I'm trying to get my pets intelligence up, so I need a lot of books. I have the sp, but it's so annoying buying one book at a time with the wait and all in between. Is there some way to buy a lot of books at once? Like a random variety would be perfect but anything that lets me not have to one at a time it would be great.

(most) special shops don't have a wait time between buying so if you have a lot of certain holiday currencies you can just work your way through ctrl+clicking to buy a bunch in a row.
other than that, there's the option of trading with other users since they can have up to 10 books in a lot, but in the time it would take to coordinate that, you could probably just buy them all yourself anyway.
For main shops books, buy them from the Kumos shops. There's no wait time to buy books. Just click on them one after the other, making sure to cancel the refresh once you're ready to scroll down or move to the next page, so that the tab doesn't reload when you buy them.
For any missing shop books, go on Subetalodge, set the filter to "List Books" then set the "Restock Location". This will tell you which shops have the books you need. Many of the main shops also restock unique books, so this is a good way to check them all + any special shops. Note: Quentin's books are listed under Graveyard shop.
If you leave the "Restock Location" blank, set the "Rarity Filtering" to 199 (max rarity for Subeta items; anything higher is for Custom Wearables), then organize by "User Price (low to high)" – you'll get a list of non-restockable books (i.e. game prizes, challenger loot, free gift, holiday, etc.).
For special shops, if ctrl+click doesn't work on your browser like it doesn't on mine, buying books on mobile might be faster. What I do is tap buy > cancel refresh > repeat. I bought more than 400 Vesnali books yesterday doing this lmao. If you plan on mass-reading to multiple pets, I found this way to be the fastest.
One last thing: if your pet's intel is in the 0-30 range, you can play Mystic Spindles for the first 20-40 intel points. The cost scales based on your pet's intelligence, so it's not worthwhile for any pets with intel already higher than that. The little bump is nice for hitting pet job requirements. It doesn't matter in the long run for battle pets, though.
if you're using firefox you can enable ctrl+clicking / cmd+clicking with the "tab submit basic" browser extension.
On Kumos in the shops if you hit "more" instead of "buy 1" you can type in how many you want to buy (up to the daily limit allowed for that item). So instead of clicking 20 times you type in 20 and buy them all at once. :)
