I asked this on "FAQ about Legacy Names/Non-Unique Pet Names" Topic, but did not receive any answer whatsoever for weeks, so I'm trying with an extra topic - simply copy/pasting (if this is the wrong forum, please let me know...):

I am at a loss, since on the Black Friday news it said "..., pet name changes,... are not included in the sale." I wasn't aware, they still existed other than the cleansing pool thing.

Here, under spoiler it says "It is possible to do a name exchange of a pet's actual name." with a link to https://subeta.net/pets_name_exchange.php , yet this is the pool thing, right?

So is it still possible to swap 2 Legacy Names?

You can do a "name exchange" here. This can be found on your "pets" dashboard page.

I may be wrong, but I do not believe it was ever possible to swap LNs. I believe swapping names effects the current pet name (swapping counts as two name changes per the name swap page) and thus the LN would be retained with the pet ID. So if you had LN Bill and LN Jane and you used name swap I believe it would become Jane, LN Bill and Bill, LN Jane.

Thank you for getting back to me. What I don't understand is, why then anybody would use an expensive way to change their pets' names if you can rename your pets for free and they'd lose their Legacy status anyway...

I did use the name exchange for 2 of my pets in 2017, but LNs wasn't an issue then.

I think the name swap is free. It can only be used if you haven't reached your free name change limit according to the header on the page.

I believe it used to cost 500 CSC. Well, but then, what IS the CS Pet Name Changes?

I can't find name changes in the actual CS, so I think the text on the BF sale news post was potentially a "copy / paste" situation from when you did have to buy them in the past?

Honestly, I think that they should let us buy extra name changes with CSC? Have your free weekly one without a GA, and you can buy extras with CSC.

The name swap thing linked on the pet page is absolutely free; I’ve used it more than once. As long as the pets you want to swap haven’t used their name change for the month (dunno why that one thing says week) you can swap at will for free.

Never tried it with LN pets tho …

Thanks! Yet my question is solely about swapping legacy names, though. If we can rename any pets' given name now, I'd see no need for any swapping option. I have given "extra" names to 2 of my pets since. But non legacy pets represent no worth whatsoever on site for me.

I don't think there's any way to change or swap the legacy names anymore without it affecting them. any way or how you change them it will cause the legacy name that shows up on the profile to change. I was one of those people who name and id hunted and used the swap name thing all the time back in the day. i was super sad (still am) that we can't use it that way anymore. on the plus side it can be hidden on the petpage and we do get to have whatever names we want.
