Oh man, I have always loved Herne's name. I'll be honest, it felt a little weird at first to think about not being able to spotlight him myself, but then I realized it's more about "completing" a pet for me than actually winning the spotlight. Plus, at this rate who knows how long it will take for all my pets to win lol. It's kinda nice to give him a second "life" after having won spotlight with a friend. And dang, I have always really loved his name xD

Application for Herne Laying in bed at 1-odd am last night my story for Herne totally hit me. I was so hyped about it that I almost got up out of bed to grab my laptop lol. Buuuut then it would have taken my like 2hrs to fall back asleep so here I am now xD

Herne's name just fits in the forest, and as one who comes from above or beyond our human world. (Granted, it's a great name that could easily birth a ton of unique characters!) Leaning upon the legends of Herne the Hunter and Herne's Oak, but treating it like a discovery in a dusty book of lore that served as the "x" on the ground where I begin to dig, I want to bring my own perspective / voice / twist to the legend. To, in a way, tell Herne's truth. I'd like to write Herne's story as my pet in two parts, from two perspectives. One is the human hunters and trappers and loggers, those who encounter the vengeful spirit and have found terror (or worse) at his hand. This leans more on (and may even acknowledge / reference) the old Shakespeare tale, but heavily expanded through my voice and perspective. The other is from the animals and creatures of Herne's wood and grove, who know Herne as their fierce protector God, a spirit of legend who defends and avenges the life within the woods. I have so many ideas about how I want to describe Herne, how I want him to be detailed in both legends, and how I want to shape his story(ies). Granted, he could totally fit in my World of Magic, but I almost want to give him his own spotlight in my pets by allowing his story to be experienced and appreciated solo.

Herne's species and color will most certainly remain a Neela, most likely harvest*, both because it is beautiful and because I feel like Herne IS who he is right now, rather than it being me taking a name and creating something / someone for / from it, it's more like you're introducing me to Herne and I am getting to know him and his story. Hopefully that makes sense lol. Given what I have in mind for him, I think I want to get two pieces of profile art that represent / show him as he is viewed in both legends, so any additional details or variations I can express through them. Perhaps at most for his official art, an overlay to add individual elements specific to his story. *In consideration would also be a reborn with a custom overlay and then the use of nightmare and harvest neela art with some modifications as additional profile art because they're gorgeous and fit the legends so well.

A complete and personalized profile (I have a layout in mind already, with a single column centered for his info, story, tc and then a BG of woods ideally one where there's shadow on one side and sun beams filtering down taking up most of the other side to fit the two pieces of his story, art on each side - maybe low opacity and then hover to see fully like he's appearing in the woods) and a personalized TC (getting a lot of woodsy vibes with some things related to weapons, antlers, parchment or an old looking book that fit the color and design vibe) are a given of course! And then I'm also insane working on getting everyone to the highest level of the gentech job / a themed job so he would be working towards that goal as well.

All this said (I really do love this idea) if you want Herne to take on a completely different character / appearance / story in his new home lmk and I'm happy to share other ideas.

I need to get around to marking my pets with a little icon on my profile to denote spotlight winners / spotlight nominated / completed pets. In the meantime, here are some examples of completed pets:

I know I have a lot of kiddos WIP, which can understandably be a deterrent. I can promise you Herne would be very loved and that his story would be told, even if getting all the pieces together takes a hot year minute.

I'm interested in Herne, mostly for the legacy name. I have an unopened loyalty box that would work for an additional pet slot. Anyway, thank you for the opportunity and Happy New Year.

Right now, I have two ideas and really, I'm leaning more toward the second at the moment. It might change though.

a) One based on the name and the species is a guardian of the forest type character. Similar to the forest spirit in Princess Mononoke.

and the other, completely un-related to anything mythical and just because I think the name fits,

b) a spoiled house cat type character whose sole purpose is that they're chonky, slightly overweight and utterly spoiled. If it's the first characterization, I'm un-sure if species and color will be changed; I might keep them because it fits the forest spirit type character. For the second, species and color will likely be changed. I'm ok with the pet being unable to enter spotlight, a couple of my past pet adoptions were pets that were already spotlighted in the past before I adopted them, and I'm fine with that. The other consideration for the forest spirit is that I might change the gender, probably to genderless to fit the forest spirit characterization. If it's a spoiled house cat character though, the gender will be kept the same though.

In terms of other considerations, if spotlight is a consideration. Nein(my current pet leash has been nominated), Nascent was my most recent to achieve pet spotlight, I've a bunch of others as well, listed in alphabetical order on my profile though not all their profiles are still up( some are super old spotlights where the coding eventually broke, and I just never got around to putting in new coding), but feel free to browse through them. The other thing is most of my pets are stand-alone stories; the only ones that are linked via pet friends are Nein and Nascent because they're creation and destruction gods respectively.

I am looking for a pet to zap. I zap until they are gorgeous (subjectively of course) but Splats and Intra Vitam are already so cute! I had Oops until she (all my pets are called female, whether they have a plus or an arrow) zapped Terracoon Vibrant . I zapped Otis and put her up for adoption, and she disappeared so fast, someone even changed her name so she must have been REALLY wanted! Mako (not mine, but also in the adoption center) is dark matter and I couldn't very well zap THAT! Almost all my pets have been zapped to what they are except for 1-2 who I created before I knew better.

Anyway, I would love to continue what you started.
