Hi, I'd welcome any feedback on my current weapons and scrolls for my main pet.
If you'd be willing to give me your advice I'd really appreciate it in particular, given your advice to others I've seen so far.
Here are his current stats:
Level: 2443 Health: 5682 / 5682 Strength: 6760 Defense: 3278 Speed: 6257 Intelligence: 3348 AP: 209 Tier: 12
I've been using defense leeches to keep him just under Tier 13 to make going up in the other stats a lot easier.
Here are his scroll and weapons sets:
Cold Blast/Psycho Smasher/Shriek Of Despair, and Ocean Currents for scrolls: and for non-freezables swapped out for The Void/Cobalt Eternal/Sancturia Exodin/a couple others, based on the opponent.
Weapons: Hydragellos Possessed Eye Shinwas Temple Shard Captured Eternal Flame Frost Quill Ballista X2 Rainbow Vortex Phoenix Quill
for non-freeze swapped out the following: Hydragellos and Frost Quill for Bear Head Bomb and Nachos Secret Stuff
I would welcome any feedback on my stats and how best to proceed with them, my scrolls and any I should consider adding/changing, and my weapons and any I should consider adding/changing (keeping in mind I'm not interested in investing TOO much sp).
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Love is all you need.
I think you said previously that you prefer unconventional sets? Allow me to persuade you back into the convential ones :P
• Intricate Energized Helmet is going to be an upgrade over your Hydragellos Possessed Eye. While the Eye is a great weapon, the Helmet is going to be slightly better because it has a blessing that protects against freezing. This is good for starting the chain freezing process while trying to avoid getting frozen yourself. You can essentially make it for free with the Battle Shop components: Battle shop components
• I think you should add in Volatile Energized Mecha. It's a staple because it does five things all at once: 1. heals your pet on the turn you use it, 2. boosts your pet's strength, defense, and speed by 250 points during battle, 3. generates a curse that will do a little damage for 100 turns, 4&5. generates a blessing that defends against some physical and heals you a little for 100 turns. This one is also made from the Battle Shop components.
• Also add in Recycle Blaster. We already talked about that one a few months ago.
• While Ballista is fun to play with, it doesn't have any defense. Usually we want to use weapons that block the opponent's icons. For instance, if they're using magma attack (:dmg:magma:), we'd want to use something like Cronus Blade, which blocks magma (:block:magma:), etc etc. I don't really use the duallista method so I'm not sure how it's treating you, but if you're not really struggling on any opponents, you can keep on using it. However, if you are, you may want to look into this little chart I put over here on blockers.
For scrolls I would definitely pick up Aftershocks Scroll from Crithbolcan's achievement loot, and Feather Explosion Scroll off the shop search. These you can rotate with your Ocean Currents depending on which icons the opponent is using.
I don't really have anything to add about your pet's stats. How to build your pet is a personal choice and once you reach the cap at the end of tier 13, you'll have enough stats that wherever they were put doesn't matter too much. After that it becomes a matter of how much intelligence/AP your pet has if you want to set yourself apart from other players :P
Thanks for the response.
Yeah, part of me wants to go with the consensus best set/sets, but I also want to have my own quirks in there, so it's a matter of trying to find a good mix that's both effective and fun.
I was looking at Intricate Energized Helmet yesterday, actually...I like the anti-freezing effect, but on the other hand its defense is unnecessary if used with Shinwas Temple Shard on the first turn to start the freeze chain, and if the opponent is frozen the blessing (defensive) is also irrelevant. Since the blessing (the anti-freeze part) only lasts two turns, it doesn't seem to be all that much more effective than Hydragellos Possessed Eye, where I can basically just chalk up a loss if I'm frozen on the first turn, and rely on a high percentage chain freeze after that if I'm not. Also, the eye does 27 icons and inflicts a curse of 17 icons for three turns, so it's more aggressive, with 4 mod slots as well.
But you make a good point, I've considered that as recent as yesterday actually :) And I'll think about it.
I like Volatile Energized Mecha, and am/will be considering that.
The same goes for Recycle Blaster.
I like dual Ballistas because it does pretty good damage, has lots of crystal slots, heals 10 percent each with a relatively high max from others I've seen (650 HP each), and has a really devastating 1-chance-in-5 secondary attack. So losses can add up, but with a bit of luck I can beat pretty much anything. But I understand and agree with your point, I should try to have different other weapons, at least, in addition that I can switch to based on the opponent and what type of icons I need to defend and/or attack with.
My philosophy is that if a chain freeze is working really, really well, then their icons don't mean anything since they can't use them if they can't attack. Again it produces losses if the freezing isn't working well, but there's always a reasonable chance against any freezable opponent.
Against NON-freezable opponents, it's a lot more difficult...still working on that ;)
I mean, on a bad turn I can do 2000 damage, while on a good turn (2 secondaries and a critical, which isn't all THAT rare in my pretty long experience with them) I can do a little over 13K.
I understand your point regarding the scrolls, I'll consider that.
Ok, I think I'll go with a more even, measured approach in terms of my stats. I remember being very intent on an ultra-high speed score, but I think maybe it'd be better to put some of those points into strength and health.
Thank you for your feedback on everything, I appreciate you taking the time to help me (and other fellow players that I've seen).

Yeah, it sounds like you're on your own path and I respect that! I never presume to know everything about battling and try to learn from other players' thought processes where I can. Maybe your journey will end up teaching me something I hadn't considered before :P As long as you're not feeling stuck or like you're not advancing at the rate you want to, it's perfectly okay to do your own thing. But I hope some of that advice will help you come up with strategies for the non-freezable opponents :P Feel free to give me another ping or leave a comment if you ever want my conventional perspective again, haha.
P.S. For your pet's build, I think most people just look through the pet high score table for ideas. There are tons of pets with all sorts of builds so I can't imagine there is ever really a bad one :P I'm working on giving different builds to my first few pets, but I really like the balance of Crimsyn's which allows me to be more experimental with the others.
Thank you, I do really appreciate your feedback, and the feedback I've seen you give to others; you're very friendly and take the time to help anyone who asks.
You do know a lot from what I've seen re: battling, certainly more than me, and it's always good to take a little bit from each viewpoint.
I will consider what you said regarding non-freezable opponents...that's one area where I could definitely use some improvement.
Thank you again, I do appreciate your willingness to try to help me and people in general when it comes to battling.
I think I'm gonna go with something pretty evenly spread after all. I don't want to get stuck with any weapon set or tactics based on a very unbalanced set of stats, and that seems to be the general consensus among the top battlers, looking at that link.
Thanks again, and Happy Morostide.
