they're randomly earned when posting on the forums. i believe only commenting on existing topics has a chance to award a forum point, while creating a topic does not.

Like everything else, it's Murphy's law - if you don't need anything in particular, they will pour, but if you need something from the forum shop, you won't see any for monts

you can also buy from user shops, but sometimes buying the individual item from user shops is cheaper
