Apparently legacy names for pets are something you can't get anymore and as such are worth a fortune, but how much exactly? Is 20M sP enough for a legacy name pet?
You can't buy pets. But check out the adoption forum, people are always re-homing pets and older pets with legacy names come up often.
Legacy pets aren't any more or less valuable. the legacy status is just there to show the pet was named before names became non-unique,
You're not allowed to buy pets? Is there a pet lending system?
No, pet lending is not allowed. Although temporary adoptions, for example - to zap a pet to a preferable color and then re-adopt out are OK.
As per the "Rules for the Adoption Center"... The selling, buying and trading of pets is NOT allowed. This violates Subeta's rules and any attempts at doing such will result in disciplinary action.
OK then, thanks :)
Looks like covered the basics! Pets cannot be bought / sold / traded nor can pet names.
I'd recommend reading through the site rules found here. In addition, the Adoption Center Rules can be found here.
Legacy named pets are pets that were created before 2020 (when non-unique names started). It served to meet the needs of new / growing community while still considering the effort and resources that went into attaining names pre-2020. The "legacy name" can move account to account if a pet is surrendered or transferred. There is also a "legacy" title on some pets that is tied to the account and will disappear if the pet is transferred. This "legacy" indicates that the pet was not only a "legacy name" but was on the account that created the pet originally.
When checking the adoption center, if a pet's birthday is before 2020 they may have a legacy name! You can copy their pet ID from the url and put it into your pets profile url to see their profile, which will let you know if they have a LN and what it is.
The adoption forum is a good place to search as well! Some folks will post that they are adopting out LN pets, or you can make your own board searching for LNs.
Ultimately legacy names don't have any more inherent "value" that non-legacy names. Some folks (like myself) like adopting legacy named pets specifically while others will rename legacy named pets because they can finally have the name they actually wanted! Besides the note on their profile there's nothing different about LN pets.
that's actually not what the "(legacy)" indicator means. it just means the pet was on a given account before creation dates and adoption dates started being tracked separately. this would have been like pre-2010 or thereabouts. so even if the pet had been created by one user and then later adopted by another, as long as it happened before adoption dates were being tracked, the adoption date will be listed as identical to the creation date, with the "(legacy)" parenthetical for clarification.
pets created after adoption date started being tracked do not get this indicator, even if they have never left the account they were created on. and, obviously, any pet adopted out after the change loses the (legacy) indicator upon being moved to another user's account.
Well dang ^^' Thank you for correcting me on that! Good to know!
I know this has already been said by others, but here's the Do Not Attempt To Sell or Trade Pets rule:
