Was it ever written by staff that they weren’t thinking of doing it/scraping it or was it kinda just left in the air?

It turned into something a bit more complex than just being a simple teahut shop that we could buy from a while ago. It changed into a storyline that could be interacted with regardless of when a user joins, so it would hopefully not be another plot that happens once & never again. Anyway, here is a post that Staff created about it & a Staff comment on a thread over in in Site Feedback that asked about it.

I think there was another time Staff gave an update about this project since the last one, but I'm not remembering it right now. If I do, I'll be sure to link it later. But, I do know that Staff has never said that they are not going to do it or scrap it entirely. I'm hoping it'll be introduced as Keith gets more bits of the site moved over & parts of this ancient website working properly together, but I don't know anything definitive, as I'm just some guy. Just wishful thinking. haha. I do hope that helps a bit & we'll get it sooner than later. ❤️

is 100% right (like always) that we had a few phases, where it was proposed as just a normal shop with items that released - and then we kind of got more and more ambitious from there, and what it turned into was cool but ... not achievable on our current system.
So, it's the kind of thing where we've got (most) art assets, an idea, and it just wasn't something that oculd get over the finish line in terms of coding what we envisioned.
The good news is (and I hope you're feeling my ✨ excitement ✨ from other threads!) that i'm building out the new kumos.subeta.net with this kind of functionality in mind.
An example is the system that I'm prototyping after I finish the sidebar and widgets, the "exploration" (name pending lol) system. Taking features like the krypts and ice fields, and making it more narrative focused and something that the creative team could push out during a plot or event without needing 1,000 lines of code written.

They're SO MUCH WORK for the entire team -- and we just don't have the size of a team that could put together what we'd call plots with the tools they have now. We had to write everything by hand.
So, I'm trying to build out a set of interlocking systems that anyone in creative could piece together to do something that feels cohesive without needing to write thousands of lines of code lol

So has it stalled out until kumos.subeta is finished? Or have you considered scaling it down and releasing what you can now? Since the original idea was just the tea shop, presumably you could release that and then add on the plot elements at a later date.
You were also going to release a few other things (the missing Centropolis map, and I think something garden-related?) but those were on hold until the tea shop was done even though they're less complex. I think I remember someone saying the Centropolis map was actually done but you guys wanted to honor the original voting results, which at this point sounds kind of silly...
