I have a few questions about pet names. Sorry in advance if this would have been better as a ticket; I was unsure.
What is the official rule on pets having "non-English" names; "non-English" names defined as names that aren't common in English or English-speaking spaces? I don't know a better way to phrase this, so I am sorry.
If I speak about my pets in forums and they have a "non-English" name, would that break the "English only in the forums" rule?
Lastly, are there any banned characters in pet names? I know a period at the beginning of the name is a no-go, but are there any others?
To better put this into perspective, I'm Native and want to give some of my pets names from my ancestral language (Northern Pomo, if anyone is curious). I'm just hesitant because I don't want to break the rules, even though the only one I could find is "no offensive pet names." I don't plan on doing any glottal stops or aspirated consonants, but there are occasional apostrophes. I just wanted to check before changing any pets' names.
Thank you in advance to anyone who reads this, and double to anyone who takes the time to answer my questions.

Plenty of pets have non-English names, they don't seem to be restricted by the English-only rule
As for the spelling/characters allowed, most of that seems to be answered in the Pet FAQs
But generally, yeah, if you have specific questions about rules it's usually best to just file a ticket so you know you're getting an official answer~
Thank you so much! I swear I looked at the rules so many times over the past week and somehow never saw that (Insert facepalm here). I'll chalk it up to lack of sleep because of work and dyslexia.

no worries, the pet FAQs especially is kind of a wall of text XD
the info there is slightly outdated as we no longer have unique pet names. we can name our pets the same as other peoples pets now.

generally pet names are fine being non-english, all of mine for example are done in various Asian languages, as long as the letters are English it should be fine, to my knowledge Ive only ever seen hyphens or underscores in names so not sure on that.
to be absolutely safe on whats allowed though with anything def file a ticket, any answers we give can only be 'speculation' on the interpretation of a rule, whether or not weve not had any issues or not
Please fill out a ticket to get answers to your questions! Any questions that are along the lines of "is --- allowed" should be asked in tickets so staff can give you the correct answer!
Thank you so much! I will do that promptly! I just knew the staff was busy with the building of the new site and everything that goes into that; and because of that, and because I wasn't pressed for an answer right away, I didn't want to bog down the ticket system with something that seemed very inconsequential.
