I paid for the 'instant' option for zombification (no waiting for bites) last night, and it says I'm infected, but as of this morning, I don't see any changes on my HA indicating that the strain has taken hold. Have I forgotten something fundamental, or is something going on?

It seems like you are infected with Stretch and you are in stage 3! I can see a piece of the fingers poking out but most is hidden under your outfit. Visit the healer and she'll show you a preview of your infection.
