Where to get the strains to turn into a zombie? Also what is the purpose of turning into a zombie?

atm strains are down, but you would need to go to the vip program linked via news and choose an old strain or new one to be able to be bit on the forum, once its progressed enough it allows you access to the underground, where theres an alchemist thing and other stuff to do
