i have a lot of thoughts/theories about TMP and its relations to the magnus archives. i'll put everything behind a spoiler just to be safe.
SPOILER (click to toggle)
the serialized formula of the "talking" reports is so comforting and reminiscent of TMA's formula. i believe needles will be a reoccurring antagonist and we shall have many more in the same vein. he is hilarious. his motivations imply a deeply traumatized individual who doesn't get a lot of attention at home. i am absolutely smitten with alice. if they kill her, i will not be able to cope. i'm stuck on why each report is being selected. it was explained that they're being scanned for "incidents", as the entity our cast is employed by (assumedly the british government) the office of Incident Assessment and Response. what sort of "incidents" are these? we have no explanation yet. paranormal or unexplained incidents? clearly there is a common thread running through it all but i can't see it yet. what is the purpose of categorizing and filing them? are they feeding a god of organization? why is colin the IT tech unraveling? what does he know? his proximity to the internal workings of their system must be affecting him, but how? and why? he's exhibiting paranoia. and he also knows that the conversations at work are being surveilled/recorded. but for what purpose? the magnus archives has a perfectly rational reason to be recorded. it's explained in the pilot. then, the reasoning for being recorded is revealed to be much more nefarious/preordained/supernatural as we get further along. but we haven't gotten a fair reasoning as to WHY we are listening to it in the first place. we must assume the old computers that our coworkers in the office use are also secretly recording.
would like to hear your thoughts/theories.

I assume that the incidents that are spoken are the only actually supernatural ones, just like how in TMA only the "real" ones got the tape.
I hope Needles is recurring, he was great.
I think they went too heavy with the office banter and scenes between coworkers from the beginning, would have liked the first few episodes to be mostly just Sam and Alice (like how the early TMA episodes were just Jon) and the other characters were introduced more gradually. I wasn't super into TMP until episode 7 last week but now I'm invested.
so with the hiatus almost halfway done i have some further thoughts! i think people trying to categorize each new incident report into one of smirke's 14 are misguided. it feels like a waste of time honestly, we aren't even sure they even exist in this universe. sure, it's fun to speculate and it's no harm done but i get the feeling that fans are clinging on to TMA a little too hard. i highly doubt that the rusty quill team would be so lazy to just carry over such a big plot point from the last series. isn't it fun to come up with new ideas? i am however pleased with returning characters. i think it feels totally normal to have the text-to-speech characters and also gerry/gertrude, given their intrinsic significance to the archives which definitely existed in this universe (albeit likely different to the one we remember) it's fun to speculate on who else may be returning as well. personally, i hope we see robert montauk and agnes montague. both their plot lines respectively are fascinating to me. i also have a theory about [ERROR], the thing that was released from the ruins of the magnus institute from the end of episode 'MAGP 10: saturday night' is in fact the same being from 'MAG 53: crusader', the thing speculated to be an ancient archivist. just a theory. the concept of the archivists that came before gertrude and jon has always made my head spin. i need to know more!! needless to say, i am too hype for the hiatus to be over. i am also relistening to TMA at work and i am always so sad to be approaching the end.
