Currently, all of my pets have the same template because I'm not very educated in CSS; I can only modify existing codes, not make new ones. I kinda want all my pets to have different profiles but (obviously) cannot pay an arm and a leg to have them all done xD Any tips would be great - I can't even think of where to start!! I tried looking through the posts but it's much more difficult than I had thought. I did re-code my user profile around the image I created, but it's much more complex for pet profiles. D:

To preface, I'm not an expert. Most of my knowledge is basic, but I hope this helps you get started at least.

If you want to build from scratch, I'd recommend starting with the code listed in the Beginner's Guide. I started with a similar beginners' template a decade ago and is how I taught myself how to make pet profiles, though nothing too complex.

I'm a visual learner, so when I started, I did a lot of trial-and-error to see what affected what. Don't be afraid of breaking or deleting things–you can always start over. Actually, I'd recommend keeping the original code in a separate .docx for comparison when something does break. Oftentimes, a lot of breaks are simple mistakes.

The Subeta CSS Compendium and Guide to CSS Basics and Shorthand are also great. The other guides in the Useful Profiles and Graphics Threads are helpful too, but the first two I linked are what helped me get back into coding.

The w3schools is also an amazing resource with basic tutorials you can test on the site itself.

Lastly, play around with premade templates. You can't claim the codes as your own, but breaking down what more experienced users' do helps a lot.

I've been playing around with codes LOL, all my profiles have a premade template with the change of backgrounds, colors, etc. My profile I used another basic template (credited the creator on my profile too) and revamped it so that it fit with the layout of the image I created.
