Hello! As the title goes, I'm hoping to get some feedback for boardgames suitable for two players.

I currently have these and would love to add to our collection:

  • Tsuro
  • Tokaido
  • Trails
  • Doomlings
  • Spot It!
  • Dominoes [double 9s]
  • Phase 10
  • YGO
  • Morels
  • Battleship

And a few more I can't remember at the top of my head. Bonus if it can be converted to a drinking game!

Thank you for dropping by!

I have not heard of the majority of those games you listed, so I don't know if they are comparable to the games I play with my husband. But I will share what we enjoy anyway! We mostly play coop games.

  • Spirit Island (I like to think of this as a reverse "Settlers of Catan" in that you play as spirits who are preventing the colonizers from settling. It's very challenging, especially at the beginning of a game, but as you grow stronger you naturally swap from defensive play to offensive play.)
  • Settlers of Catan: Starfarers (My family loves Catan, but the spaceship variant is just so much better. It's been improved so the game is less rng dependent and it feels more balanced overall)
  • Stardew Valley (The newest edition is a little bit better for the rng, but still an rng heavy game. While we sometimes play 2p coop, other times we each manage two characters and play as "4p")
  • Clank (Fun DnD style deck building game. Has a lot of expansions that we have not explored yet)

We are also big into legacy games, where each session builds on the last.

  • Gloomhaven and its sequel, Frosthaven (Very long, big legacy game. It's a fantasy adventure with a lot of focus on strategy and synergy between players. We have so many hours put into these games its kind of ridiculous)
  • Pandemic Legacy (Pretty challenging, but the permanent outcomes are super engaging and it's so interesting to play around)
  • Clank Legacy (Just like the stand-alone game, but story driven! The legacy version is more coop than the stand-alone, but is still a bit competitive)

edit: OH I forgot to link this youtube channel. They review board games and are a husband/wife duo so most of their feedback is based on 2-player gameplay. I definitely recommend checking them out! ">https://www.youtube.com/

Ohhh my time has COME. :D

Some of these are 2+ players, but they all play nicely with just 2, too. My partner and I are super into tabletop games and it's usually just the 2 of us playing so I've got plenty of suggestions. :)

The Bears and the Bees Toil & Troublez (if you liked Morels, this one is along a similar vein and SUPER fun!) Patchwork Karuba Forbidden Desert Forbidden Island Fairy Tale (a basic deck building game that's super fun) Pass the Pandas (super fast play dice game that's also super fun) Cottage Garden Boop Takenoko Codenames Duet That's Pretty Clever! (if you like Yahtzee this one is GREAT) Potion Explosion

I also second 's suggestion of the Stardew Valley game and the Pandemic games (although we play the base games, not Legacy). Stardew Valley is a lot more involved and takes a bit to learn but it's SUPER fun once you know it!

If you'd like more recs for any type of tabletop game, hit me up! I'm always happy to talk about games!
