I have or have gotten tons of items with the dumbest description. Some stuff looks like ingredients, I know there are minions for battle, food, clothes, books and collection stuff as well as currencies. Some stuff looks like furniture. Will I unlock a house or something? I swear someone told me on another avatar site there were homes to decorate here. I just keep things that seem to be valuable. Inventory isn't very big. Not sure if there's a way to expand it. Thanks for your help. I have no idea how I made friends on similar sites, especially as a child (still have 2 neopet friends I met when I was 9 and they're sisters! I'm 26 now but unfortunately we've never met still). Any other advice is appreciated. I already do all the dailies. A bit busy with life though and starting a second job tomorrow.
There aren't currently homes you can unlock. You can store items in your vault. When you select an item in your inventory, one option is to move it to your vault. Your inventory space increases if you have a gold account, but you can store items in your vault if you have too many in your inventory.

some items don't really "do" anything, they just exist so you can put them in pet treasures or galleries. other items that might not have a readily apparent use can be used in certain site features, like baking, alchemy, gardening, scroll-making, genetech lab combos, the coin machine, etc. if you're ever unsure about an item, looking it up on subetalodge will usually give you a lot of good information.
as far as inventory management, i would just sell pretty much everything in your shop unless you think it's something you'll want to hang onto, in which case you can keep it in your vault. if you haven't already been making use of it, the quickstock feature (accessible from the "your shops" dropdown submenu, or the links across the top of your shop management page) is great for moving multiple items at once.
ugh ty had no idea about the quickstock feature, will definitely check out the subetalodge. A little disappointed in lack of housing though!
