I keep seeing this ad for this one Christmas movie coming out this year and it got me thinking. What movies do you guys recommend/like to watch around this time of year?

It's not exactly a movie (it was aired as a two-episode special and is 3 hours long if you watch it in one go), but my beau and I like to watch Terry Pratchett's Hogfather around Christmas! I also like to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas during the winter holiday season. (It is a Christmas movie, and I will die on this hill.) There are a couple of MST3K episodes that are good, too. (Well, "good," since the films they use for MST3K are not truly good by any stretch of the word, haha) The main one I'm thinking of is The Christmas That Almost Wasn't, which is TERRIBLE, but so very amusing.

It may sound silly, but I love A Muppet Christmas Carol and the other Muppet Christmas specials.

Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel/Tri orísky pro Popelku (Three Wishes for Cinderella) is not a Christmas movie but a Christmas tradition in Germany. We watch it every year and it is one of the best - if not the best adaptations of Cinderella.

Elf is great, too.
