How to Customize Pet Pages and User Profiles

Hey, all! It is so hard to find any Subeta info through Google and I'm at a loss.
How do you give a pet a customized page, and how do you customize your profile? I don't even know what page to go to in order to edit the code. I used to do this webpage stuff when I was 10, but here I am nearly 2 decades later. 💀
to customize a pet's profile, you need to go to their "edit description" page. there are 2 ways to get here.
- personal > pets. on this page, click the little dropdown arrow to the top right of the pet whose profile you want to edit, and select the first link ("edit description").
- personal > pets > the little link that says "pet" in the menu that pops out to the side, under the name of the pet whose profile you want to edit. on this page there will be a picture of your pet and a list of links; the second link down is "edit description."
then, of course, you'll need a profile code. there are plenty of free pet profile templates, so you don't have to be good at CSS to have a custom profile, but you do need to understand the basic concept of how CSS and HTML work.
you can customize your user profile on this page (personal > dashboard > "profile" link near the top of the page). the big text box is where you'll enter your code, as well as any personalized bio or other text you want on your profile.
for this to show up properly, you have to make sure you have the "profile" content block on your profile itself. to check this, simply visit your profile page; if the custom layout isn't appearing, click "edit your profile" at the top of the page, then "add section," then select the one labeled "profile" and click "add section" (there's also a dropdown menu that lets you choose which column it goes to; this doesn't matter that much because you can just click and drag your sections wherever you want them after they're added).
again, there are plenty of free profile templates in the profiles & graphics freebies subforum i linked above, so you don't have to make your own from scratch. i use a customizable profile from subetagraphics, which also has customizable pet profiles.
