I saw the 325 x 325 info on the upload area, and it was check marked/chosen. So does that mean my forum image is automatically the right size? I'm not good with this kind of thing and have no idea how to resize an image. Suggestions? Thanks!

you would think so, and I certainly did too until I got an official warning for it after like half a month thinking I was fine. but it needs to be a max when including both image and the text in your signature, which it doesn't actually check. I avoid using images now. 🙃

so with the one line of text (10px) you need to resize the image to a maximum of 315px tall, but probably best to err and go lower. I would delete it before the mods see and give you a strike for it.

I deleted my signature line, but it's still there. 🙄

So is my image fine? How do you tell??

you can check the dimensions of any image on your computer by right-clicking and selecting "get info" (mac) or "properties" (windows). doing this, i can see that your image is actually 2048x2048 pixels. although subeta automatically scales images down, that doesn't actually count and will still be considered in violation of the rules.

to resize an image on mac:

  1. open the image in Preview
  2. click on the "tools" dropdown menu from the top of the screen, then select "adjust size"
  3. make sure the units are set to pixels, and type in the dimensions you want—in this case, 325x325 with no signature text, or 315x315 with one line of signature text.
  4. hit OK and save the image.

to resize an image on windows:

  1. open the image in Photos (this is usually the default program for opening images)
  2. click on the ... icon at the top of the window, then select "resize image"
  3. make sure the "pixels" option is selected and type in the dimensions you want (same as above)
  4. hit "save" and save the image.

once you've resized the image, upload it to an image hosting site like imgur. once it's uploaded, right click on the image in your browser and select "open image in new tab." this will open a new tab with the URL you need to upload your forum image.

some people have reported issues with embedding imgur images on subeta for unknown reasons. if imgur doesn't work, you can try an alternative like flickr.com, postimages.org, imgbb.com, etc. i've never used any of these though, so i can't attest to their reliability.

(also, signature updates take some time to be reflected on the forums, so you just have to wait.)

Thank you so much for all the info! I'm on mobile so I can't fix it but I did delete it.

some websites also let you resize images; i think imgur has that as an option.

Ok, I'll have to check it out tomorrow when I get on my computer. Thank you. 🥰
