Hello there~ One of my personal favourites is:

“Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly, because doing it poorly is better than not doing it at all.”

(The explanation for this is brushing your teeth for 30 seconds is better than not brushing them at all when that 2 minutes seems exhausting. Doing ten minutes of yoga is better than 10 minutes of sitting when 30 minutes of cardio sounds impossible. Changing my clothes is good when a whole shower is impossible. Standing on the porch for a few minutes is worth it after being in the house for three straight days because I don't have the energy to go anywhere.)

Yours doesn’t have to explain or be as long as mine.

I have two! One's a bit long, but they changed my view on things a lot:

"What is it that the child has to teach? The child naively believes that everything should be fair and everyone should be honest, that only good should prevail, that everybody should have what they want and there should be no pain or sadness. The child believes the world should be perfect and is outraged to discover it is not. And the child is right." - Tzvi Freeman

"You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it." - The Talmud

Both remind me that, no matter how hopeless things may feel in the world, we have the power to be the good in it if we really try.

“I do not think that we have a right to happiness. If happiness happens, say thanks.” - Marlene Dietrich

Maybe not the most cheery quote in the world, but sometimes I think people overvalue things like happiness to the point people feel like there's something wrong with them if they aren't Live, Laugh, Loving every second of the day. The reality is that life involves a wide spectrum of emotions and only some of them are positive. Sometimes the best you can hope for is "neutral", and that's okay.

"In some villages the death toll exceeded 100%" Non Campus Mentis (on the subject of the Bubonic Plague)

This collection of snafus from college term papers shewed mine that even intelligent people make basic mistakes. This also gives some insight on how modern students rely far too much on technology when researching. Mine included, in more ways than one.

"The deespest friendship often comes through a chance meeting." - Gorobei Katayama, Seven Samurai

In mine lifetime mine have seen it but twice, three more than expected.

An Agents of Shield quotes about death that I find comforting:

Jemma Simmons : I like to think about the first law of thermodynamics, that no energy in the universe is created and... none is destroyed. Jemma Simmons , Leo Fitz : None is destroyed. Jemma Simmons: That means that every bit of energy inside us, every particle will go on to be a part of something else. Maybe live as a dragonfish, a microbe, maybe burn in a supernova ten billion years from now. And every part of us now was once a part of some other thing - a moon, a storm cloud, a mammoth. Leo Fitz: A monkey. Jemma Simmons: A monkey. Thousands and thousands of other beautiful things that were just as terrified to die as we are. We gave them new life. Good one, I hope.

This sounds like fun! Here's one of my favorites. A translation of a Polish saying which goes:

Not my circus, not my monkeys.

This is for when someone tries to get you to take on a problem at work that isn't your department. When it seems like a pack of monkeys are wrecking everything, just remember: You have your own and you're not taking on more. 😊

"Poor planning on your part does not consitute an emergency on mine. I have a life and you are a full grown adult." I want business cards with this printed on them. That way, when someone says I have less than 12 hours to do stuff that should take a week because they didn't think they needed to tell me, I can carry on with my work while they throw a fit that their thing needs to be cancelled.

"Finding yourself" is not really how it works. You aren't a ten dollar bill in last winter's coat pocket. You are not lost. Your true self in right there, buried under cultural conditioning, other people's opinions and inaccurate conclusions you drew as a kid that became your beliefs about who you are. "Finding yourself" is actually returning to yourself. An unlearning, an excavation, a remembering who you were before the world got its hands on you." Emily McDowell
