Wanting to expand my wardrobe

Hi all. :) I'm still figuring things out around here. What's the best way to get more things for the wardrobe? Backgrounds and such as well? My avatar is very plain, lol.
I find the quest shops to be a wonderful resource. you can get a quest point for every 5 quests you do, so they add up fairly quickly, and with all the wizard tokens you get from doing his quests, you can play carnival games for points to spend on wearables in that shop! I also recommend adding a wide range of wearable items to your wishlist, so that people can gift you when doing Maj. drills. (Not to mention luminaire coming up in a few months).
If you have wizard tokens, vending! Especially if you've unlocked Omen Islands and the Ocean Depths vending machine :)
Backdrops are often the most expensive items. Most are from specialty shops, but there are a variety in regular shops. I've made a listing of background items found in regular shops at the offsite SubetaLodge, sorted by user price. Note that a lot of them are items or partial backgrounds, but there are a few full ones.
The Museum shop also has some moderately priced (50-100K) nice full backgrounds.

I second Lypsyl in using SubetaLodge! It really helped me realize if I was over paying for an item, especially if it was one I could use in game currency like Quest Points for.
I'm also a BIG fan of layering partial items to get interesting backgrounds! For example, if you don't have a lot of money and are just starting out you can do some simple things like:

The longer you play though, the more you just end up accumulating things to be honest and you end up picking up more expensive items either on sales, through trades, or gifting....SPOILER (click to toggle)
Private Outfit this floral background for example is pretty expensive, but I got the background one year during a holiday Cash Shop Sale after saving CSC.
Or you can always try and find a more price-friendly background that gives similar vibes to backgrounds you like.Private Outfit is my all time favorite HA, but the full background is pretty expensive. You could swap it out for a lower cost Cash Shop background though like the and the vibe would remain the same for far less.
Some of the Cash Shop - Costume Trunks have nice backgrounds for a relatively low CSC or SP price. The Anomalous X-Ray linked above is an example of that.
Basically play in the wardrobe, play around SubetaLodge, and also if someone has a HA you like, check to see if their profile lists what items they use. Sometimes a background you think might be unaffordable really isn't when you look it up.
(This holds true for almost everything in the wardrobe: clothes, hair, foreground/background accessories, etc.)

It's difficult to find items when you don't know what to look for, isn't it? I suggest you play around in the wardrobe and find things you want that way. Just go to the wardrobe and select 'items' up at the top. Then go down to the filters and select 'all items'. You can filter by layer, search by key words and toggle CWs. You may already know all this, but hopefully it will be somewhat helpful. Have fun!
