This is a sensitive topic but I've been looking over Subeta's rules and FAQ and can't find anything information about this except for "The one exception is if a user has passed away, the username will be kept on the account as a legacy username."

I've recently noticed: "This account belongs to a deceased user, and the username will not be cleared." on one of my friend's profiles. I'm just trying to get any information on that process. How does someone get confirmed deceased by the staff? Is there any way to get more information about when that was posted? I think its great that usernames are made legacy usernames in these scenarios and I guess I'm grieving someone I had an internet friendship with over 10 years ago. They were really important to me at one time.

Please let me know if I'm violating the Community Guidelines in any way and feel free to lock if asking about this goes against Subeta's rules.

I don't know a whole lot personally, just that staff would need to be notified via a ticket to apply the deceased notice to the account. I don't know if they're able to give out any information, unfortunately, but I'm pretty sure discussing a deceased user isn't against the rules. I know a few users have "in memory of" notes in their forum signatures for friends who have passed. You could probably ask around and see if they have any other friends active who may know more.

And I'm sorry for your loss, especially finding out that way :(

I've sadly had to do this for a friend who passed. You basically file a ticket and let staff know. They just need an obituary post if possible. Other than that I don't believe staff can give info but if you knew another user who also knew said deceased user you could ask them.
