Hi! I'm a returning player and this might be a dumb question, but I have two pets on my account that now have numbers at the end. I am dead certain I would never have grabbed pets with numbers on the name and I'm almost positive I remember finding these two in like...some kind of adoption centre? They were the names, not with numbers ...so I am very confused. Is it possible these could have changed without me doing it? I think it's been quite a few years since I last logged in.

Hi Asellus ^^ Yes, a few things changed on subeta. Back then, if a user went on hiatus for more than 12 months their pets' names would become available again for all other users to re-create. And the original pet/name would get numbers added. Now pet names are no longer unique so that system doesn't exist anymore. Every user can create every name they like.

@ Asellus you can change their names to whatever you want (either back to their original names or something totally new, up to you!) by going to the pets page, clicking the little dropdown arrow in the top right of their info box, and choosing "change name" (the third option). i believe regular accounts can change one pet name per week for free.

it also looks like your avatar is broken, which is a common issue for players returning after a long hiatus. you can have this fixed by posting in NEW Megathread: Broken avatar image, and/or wardrobe completely unusable PLEASE READ FIRST POST.

Going to just add that with the renames you /SHOULD/ be able to rename those names once for free without it counting against your account free names. Its still much like the offer from when names used to cost CSC and when taken got one for free without the fee. Also sadly each of your pets must have their own unique names, so you can't name them all 'Alex' for example. When searching names it's no longer pets/name it's now either pets/user/name or user/pet/name.... I forget which order but it now involves your user and pet name so it's be hard for the system if all your account pets were named the same. I also think it warns you about it if you have that name already.

Thank you ! I am a little confused because in my drop down even after renaming my two pets with yoinked names (thank gosh they didn't steal my daughter's name...) they still show up with numbers in my pets dropdown menu thing, but oh well.

Thank you - yes, I did do that and it did not charge me. I will admit to still being bummed but oh well. At least my really important pets did not get yoinked =)

Sadly that's what the name was when the legacy thing came through and essentially sealed in names. Sadly even if you create the first of a name now they won't get the legacy thing. So another thing that's happened is the bath pools. Idk if you were here when the first was introduced. But now there's 3 total. The initial one where you "find" things left behind by checking daily. Then the other two are pet functions, one for hunger increase (great if you're getting numbers for a gourmand pet) the other is for names. Now the name one what it does is erase the legacy name off a pets display because not everyone likes their legacy names, especially when there's unwanted numbers, HOWEVER please note this DOES NOT allow a new legacy name to be used in its place. Once that option is utilized that portion becomes blank and stays blank forever. So it can be worth it if you don't want to see numbers with the names but should be thought over before doing it. I think there's also custom code if you can find it to just cover it on the display page, but it won't erase it from your menus.

Her name was Aramaoi before the change and she did not have numbers when I came back, so why is her legacy blank? EDIT nevermind I've discovered I'm an idiot. I have some kind of lookup on Ara. Hahahahahahahha. SO SORRY!
