i don't think it's bad form, but if you're worried you could check people's profiles to be sure. i've seen a lot of people say that they're happy to receive new friend requests, the ones who aren't might mention it somewhere on ther profile page as well.

Also seconding what has to say. I’d definitely check profiles because I’ve seen some people say they’re not okay with random friend requests, but most of us are pretty chill and won’t get mad over simply asking. We don’t bite, for the most part : )
