I'm looking to turn one of my current pets into a Steamwork Yaherra (absolutely adore the intricate details in the design). I just have a quick question (as I've never turned pets Steamwork before - my only Steamwork pet was adopted).

In order to change an existing pet to a specific Steamwork/Species combo, does the pet need to be the exact species as the Schematic? Or would the Schematic automatically change the pet to the right specie?

Sorry if this was already asked and answered previously. I might have missed this detail when Steamwork pets were originally announced. I tried to search but couldn't find anything.

E.g. would I need to change the target pet to a Yaherra first, then do the change at Full Steam Ahead with the schematic and key? Or it doesn't matter what species the current pet is, I can just bring it and it will change both color/species at the same time?

Also - my understanding is the Gear gender is only available if the pet was created from scratch, so any existing pets with a gender will not have their gender change to Gear?

off top f my head Im not sure(I had mine done from scratch if I recall), I know you can use the to change the species and for color to get it

as for the gear 'gender' yes only created ones will have that, changed pets wont

Thanks for helping clarify :) I see so unfortunately if I want a gear gendered pet, it has to be created from scratch and not by changing a legacy pet.

I'm know about the Miracle Potions but they're very expensive and I think probably not necessary in this case if there is a much more affordable way.

I was wondering if the Steamwork pet process would automatically change the pet's species and color at the same time.

Say for example: I want to change

I want to say it should change both(it takes like 3 days as well iirc unsure though might be less)

Thanks! I've ordered my schematic and will see what happens. still deciding if I want to change an existing pet or create one from scratch (the gear gender would be useful for character planning! wish there was a way to obtain this for changing legacy pets)

if it helps theres the that would give it no gender at all, but scratch would be better if it works for the idea

Yeah, the schematic will change your pet into a steamworks version of whatever the schematic is for. You don't need to change it first
