i'm typically a lurker but i've gotta make 100 posts to get into the blue building anyway :P this account is a few years old now, i swear i had an account older than this one but whatever it is i've lost the log-in info now. i remembered the site a few years back and remade, then didn't really play much and forgot again. i'm glad i remembered and got back into it, though -- i was really into neopets when i was younger, and now it's ... disappointing, at the very least. anyway! i'm really liking subeta so far after re-re-discovering it. love the art, love the world-building, and that the games actually work! maybe one day i'll get back on my HTML/CSS/whatever skills and make my profile and pet pages look good, too. i did a bit of that back in the day on neopets, i remember embedding MIDI versions of songs to play on my profile. anyway! hello everyone :)

Welcome to Subeta finally again haha. Yeah Neo is really disappointing and its the reason a lot of people looked for alternatives and found this site. I think even at it's peak, I prefer Subeta. Yes! HTML/CSS is really fun, you should pick it up again. :)

definitely! but lots of improvements. being able to change your pet's name/username is pretty huge for me, basically essential in just about anything for me. minigames not being broken due to flash dying is a plus, and the site layout is super nostalgic. honestly everything feels very nostalgic but pretty stream-lined and easier to follow, imo. the large amounts of different currencies are a little overwhelming, but it's not unmanageable. still on neopets every so often if only for the nostalgia, but i definitely use subeta more, at least lately. plus, customizable human avatars!

i was actually reading up about subetapets the other day, probably common knowledge to most people but keith made subetapets at age 14 because neo was disappointing :P i figured/knew it was in response to neo but i had no idea he was 14. pretty impressive imo! i've been checking out the pet spotlights and i love seeing the creativity. it inspired me to come up with my own pet lore, but atm that's all i've got. some day when i've got some downtime i'll get around to actually trying to make the page(s) look nice

Absolutely! I always tell people it'll feel just like Neopets, but more updated. I do like that there's a whole currency page that lays them all out. If you have the widget that shows your sP amount on hand, the sP amount is a link that goes to the currencies page.

the currency page definitely helps, but keeping all the currencies and shops straight in my mind i still a bit of an ordeal. i've been using the wishlist pretty liberally just to remember which shops i want things from even if i could easily get them now. i didn't know/remember that the sP link goes to the currency vault, though, i was just doing it the long way :P good to know!

it is truly an ordeal. i've only got 5 trading cards and at this point maybe 5 posts, so still a ways to go. everybody is pretty nice on here so far, though, so that helps me feel inclined to up my post count :P someone sent me a giftbox with a bunch of wardrobe items just because i posted my thread in here?! and someone else gave me two months of gold account?? i still need to get to updating my avatar with new items but it was very sweet regardless

I appreciate that you can get CSC for free and use it for Gold accounts, unlike Neopets' endless money-grubbing for any decent account features. It helps that the site actually functions.

i agree! i always appreciate when you can get paid currencies in games, etc for free, even if it's slow and typically not very much. honestly i think it's smart, too, because i've definitely been tempted to buy more paid currency if i already have some and have been able to utilize it. it's sorta like a free sample imo. on neopets i only got neocash a few times, like when they gave everyone 500 or something when the shop first opened. honestly i think even giving 5 neocash every week in a row that you do trudy's surprise would be beneficial for them, but i know they won't do that sort of thing anyway :P

That was one of the first things that drew me in! The idea that

1. I could buy CSC with $$ if I wanted
2. I could sell CSC for sP if I wanted
3. People without $$ could obtain CSC with sP

I just think it's so neat and really is a big opposite to Neopets. I think all the different types of currency keep the economy somewhat balanced as well. Love it!
