We can't edit a news post comment after we have posted them, like we can in the forums. It would be great if we can do that! Being able to preview them isn't enough, which is also an option in the forums, just like editing our post. Also, being able to click a ping button for users would be handy in the News Comments too. :)

There are definitely times where I've wanted to edit news comments - typos (because I was just dashing off a quick comment and didn't bother to preview). Times where I'd meant to make two points, but accidentally hit post before making my second point.

However I'd first like to know the rationale behind not being able to edit currently - is it a resource/programming issue or is it a communication issue? The news comments can be pretty fast paced (even now) and there have been times when posts have been deleted due to community guidelines. When that happens, the comments can become nonsensical or confusing. If people can edit their comments at will, I see confusion becoming a problem.

Perhaps, if possible, a five minute editing window? Like an edit button exists, but only for the first few minutes right after you post.

the only issue i can see with this is sometimes news comments can get really heated, and its also a way that folk who are banned from forums can still talk which can cause some strife. i think a timer would be a bit exploitable, especially if someone were to bait. would hate to see that be abused to upset others. thats just my opinion from what i have seen happen in the news comments, though.

I personally would vote yes on allowing news comment editing, tbh.

Maybe have mods/UAs be able to see edit history on the backend to ensure no one is writing really inappropriate stuff then sneakily deleting it.
