hi all! i've never done a major giveaway before. last lumi, i did have a forum for a gift giveaway that was wishlist based. i wanted something i could work towards throughout the year this time though. so, i have been saving items in a lumi gallery to gift people during lumi. there is a wide range of stuff in there - i restock a lot, so if i restock and the item is 68k+, i add it to that gallery. i also spend extra holiday currencies for items for it, and sometimes csc and cw vouchers.

i know people will probably more want the higher-price items over the 60-90k restock items, although obviously i have way more of those than of the expensive ones. it keeps it sustainable for me to continually be adding items (i periodically go through and remove items that have lost their value since added to the gallery). what i'm wondering is, what would be the best way to handle this giveaway when it comes around, and what's the best approach for storing items? i'm mostly storing whatever items i can, but i'm wondering if i should put more focus into collectibles like books, plushies, food, etc. or if wearables are more desirable? does it make sense to keep putting higher-value restock items in there in the mix along with the much higher priced items, or should i maybe split this into two separate giveaways? i have zero experience with hosting a subeta event like this, so any input from any giveaway veterans or anyone else who has an opinion is highly appreciated.

thank you! :D

Its on the more expensive side, but "seasonal" items. So spring and summer quest shop items, millionaire center, etc. The quest shop items in particular can be purchased for relatively "cheap" amounts of quest points if purchased in the correct season, most will be unavailable during Lumi. That is, of course, if you quest and have the points available. The millionaire center isn't as useful since it starts off at a high price, but still might be worth it.

Neugarten (or whatever its called these days) is also great to pick and choose items to store for Lumi since those shops don't stay open year round. Concentrate on items needed for achievements, or collections.

Looks like you've been here for 12 years, so you have probably been around for a Lumi or 11... For giving away items for lumi wait until the Lumi Forums open up and then make a post that says something like 'Gifts for your Tree' and then specify in the post how many gifts you've got, how many per tree, and also that people should nominate friends or groups that like giveaways and that if anyone finds an empty tree to post the user name or tree link and you'll hit them too. Giveaways during Lumi are easy. You can also make a post saying gift dump in the DC.

As for gifts... it's a gift. Also a giveaway that no one is paying for. Just add stuff you think people won't want to pelt you with snowballs for giving to them. Add in a couple of great prizes, maybe, to generate interest. But only if you want to. Old holiday stuff, food (themed is nice, but ultimately unnecessary), SubQ vouchers... Those are things I like to find under my tree.

seasonal items are a great idea. i rarely do my quests anymore just because i get overwhelmed with how long it takes but that actually might motivate me to do them every day, to get quest points. millionaire center is also a good idea, i don't mind spending some chunks of sp as i think that'll make it more fun in the long run anyway, just a little less sustainable. thank you for the input!!

old holiday stuff is a great idea, i'll have to get back into the wizard token carnival games that give you old TOT items as sometimes i get pretty valuable things from that. i was also thinking along the same lines as you say, where i'm sure people will just be happy that it's another giveaway and won't be too upset with whatever they get. i just wasn't sure about splitting out a lower-price giveaway from a higher-price giveaway, but of course the lower priced items are easier to collect and have more of, while i don't have a -ton- of high price items. i think maybe doing a regular giveaway, giving people the option to request a couple of items and i'll give them one or two of them, while highlighting in the post some of the higher price items available might be the way to go. i have lots more time to plan and amass items, but i am trying to work the logistics out early so i know how to keep it organized!
