June is: Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month

More awareness and less stigmatism for this, needs to happen.

The site has alphabetically:

~ People wear this pink one for Breast Cancer ~ People wear this white one for Lung Cancer

It would be really awesome if the site released a purple hugga bear for this devastating disease. :( and any other purple colored items, people would like to suggest. The bears are small and do not get "in the way" of making great HAs. :) Peace! pokes siggy

I don't object to this at all. But I am a little confused. I thought these were items released around Valentine's Day years ago, and that's what they were related to. I wasn't aware they were a reference to anything else.

I mean, I guess ultimately it doesn't matter since people can ascribe whatever meaning they want to them, but I'm just curious.

Wow, nice memory. :) I looked these up and yep, they were released Feb 2008 for Valentines Day. https://subeta.net/news.php?act=comments&newsid=4925 Besides them being released for VD, I just know that I wear the Pink and White ones for the respective Cancer months. Peace!

Because they weren't originally intended to represent anything, I would rather have staff make a brand new item (or items?). Just releasing a new hugga bear feels too half-assed and -hearted. Or... If possible, revamp the whole thing so the old ones do represent something and add a few more. Not only a purple one - there are lots of conditions that need awareness and I would love if there were a little something users could wear related to invisible disabilities and the like.

I don't want the site to pick some causes over other. It's fine when it's the userbase, but I think that it's not okay to go and pick causes over others.

June is also PTSD Awareness Month and National Cancer Survivors Month

I feel like it's like tribute items. If artists want to do them, sure, but we shouldn't ask for them.
