It'd be really cool if we could add diacritical/accented letters to pet names like ë and the like. It doesn't have to be all of them, just the most common like umlauts and tildes and such. Just a thought.

unfortunately, it's been a hard no on these for years, especially since most of our pet urls rely on being able to type out the name.

It's been 3 years since it was last looked into. But it did cause for those pets to have unreachable pages. Also now that we have non-unique names it might make it trickier.

Given Subeta's English only rule too... I mean, even though my profile page has runes on (and Idk how THAT'S gone for so long)...

this did used to be the case but as mentioned it caused issues because the coding i guess does not play nicely with alternate characters, which is a shame. i would love for it to be an option.

Accent and characters in names were originally dis-allowed on site because of them breaking site pages when they were allowed. Pet pages and username pages that had alternate characters in their names literally could not be reached, as clicking on the names would lead to errors for the pages, and assuming, this is still the case now, I don't see this happening anytime soon.

It would be cool to have pet names with accents and tildes and things like that, but I get why we can't. Thank you to everyone in this thread for explaining it; I was wondering this myself.
