...Okay, so there is a lot of good manga out there. So let's talk about our faves! Whether they are an old or current fave, or multiple faves, I would like to hear your thoughts!
One of my favorite genres are romance/magical girl type manga. Such as Sailor Moon and Ouran High School Host Club. But perhaps that's the nostalgia talking. Even if they are a bit cheesy, they are still fun.
On the other hand, I love almost anything Clamp has made (Cardcaptor Sakura, Chobits, Kobato, etc...). The art, the characters, the stories...ugh I could talk a long time about this. Most of Arina Tanemura's works are great guilty pleasures too.
The Zelda mangas and Pokemon Adventures are also really fun reads.
And although I haven't finished reading them, Inuyasha, Naruto, Bleach, Magi, Demon Slayer and The Promised Neverland are looking to be good candidates.
Now, what are some of your faves?

Admittedly I've only ever seriously read and am up to date on one manga. I've read all 8 parts of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and part 9 just started last month. Before this I've always been an anime-only for everything I liked, but I loved JJBA so much that I read a manga for the first time. Some people would pick up where they left off on the anime, but I went back to the beginning to enjoy the story all over again.
The OG devilman is an incredible and ground breaking manga for its time and its heavily overlooked
Without sounding "basic" i really love Junji Itos "Spirals". Fantastic story about weird goings on in a town. At some points its really spooky so if you're not into horror maybe give it a miss.
A more lighthearted one "Spell of desire", its a cute romance between a botanist and a knight. :3
all good series. I haven't finished Magi or Promised Neverland but I have finished all the others. If you like long series, look into One Piece. Clamp works are godly tier. UHm I honestly read so much it's hard to make favorites. I like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure as mentioned above. I loved Battle Royale, think Hunger games, but actually violent. Cage of Eden was really good also. Berzerk is another one that really stands out but it's super violent.
But yes, I read a bit of everything. If you want ideas, just let me know!
i read a manga i've been absolutely haunted by for a few weeks now. it's called 'Helter Skelter' by Kyoko Okazaki, and it was writted some time in the 90's, iirc. it's a fictional account of a top japanese model as her career and sanity begin to decline due to her poor health and the dread of her own creeping irrelevence. i won't post spoilers but it goes to some pretty dark places! i loved the art style too. it's really lovely and expressive, very different from a lot of other styles out there. i haven't been able to stop thinking about it.
'Hana-chan and the Shape of the World' by Ryoutarou Ueda is a more recent manga that also features a striking & atypical art style. i think i remember the artist mentioning somewhere that it was their first time drawing manga, which i found really surprising. it's about life in rural japan through the imagination of a young girl. it's sort of slice of life, but hana's perspective adds a lot of strange and fantastical elements to her daily life. it's a little dark but not especially edgy. i think this one is great for any age tbh. it's interesting to see how hana interprets mundane things like storms and field burnings through a lense of childish wonder.
has the right idea. Junji is great. And hngggggh Magic Knights Rayearth, X1999, Tsubasa, xXxHolic, Angelic Layer..... SO many good series from Clamp. I loved how Tsubasa wove characters from many works into one brilliant story.
I will never not shill for Urasawa Naoki's MONSTER. I'd read a lot of manga before starting it, but Monster completely blew me away with its storytelling and character design. I'm actually incredibly picky on art styles now: I love ONE's and Yuasa's designs, I love distinctive faces and big noses and forehead wrinkles, I like art that strikes me and suits the characters and the story.
Other than that, D.Gray-Man will always hold a special place in my heart. I grew up with this series (it was actually the first series I ever followed and gotten obsessed over, and is the reason I'm even into anime/manga), and it's pretty incredible witnessing the series' tone and the artist's style change over time.
Definitely Nana as my favourite lol. Skip Beat was one of my favourites as well.

Out of all the manga i have in my collection a majority of them are by Clamp lol. My favorite might be Fort of the Apocalypse
My favourites are Berserk, Claymore, 20th Century Boys, and Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service!
zombie powder is my absolute favorite, and although bleach is still good for what it is, i will forever be salty that zombie powder got cancelled like 2/3 of the way through its run so it could get written instead.
my favorite that actually got finished is bremen - not only did i find the story engaging, it was the first manga i encountered that had a well-written trans character.
