Question of this rule: No Discussing Frozen Users This rule applies: Entire Site,Forums,Shoutbox Do not discuss or mention frozen users.

What is the purpose of this rule? Is is to protect the person frozen or for some other reason?

Drama or llama? I'll take the llama :D

way back when forum sites were more popular, discussion of banned users—debating why they were banned, whether they did anything wrong, if they should be unbanned, arguing with mods—could end up overtaking entire forums for days, making them basically unusable. to avoid this, subeta just forbade these discussions entirely.

The BEST part about this site is the community of friendships. When one is frozen, it is an almost panicking feeling.

I do get the privacy thing, but why not at least be told whether they self-froze or were frozen by the site. You know I respect your privacy; you also know how lost I feel when friends accounts are frozen - especially when it is sudden.

that somewhat makes sense, but I don't see why friends who are concerned can't talk among themselves about people that have been apart of this adventure for sometimes years. We can discuss other rl topics that cause drama. To just be cut off and made to be silent is frustrating. The worse part is feeling like one can't discuss it in fear of being frozen themselves. Would it be so bad to just be told they self-froze or they were frozen because of a rule. I just hate the feeling that I am being stifled because of the fear of drama. Like I said above to Damon I do respect the privacy thing.

Thank you both for responding; I do appreciate it.

There was a discussion about this a while back, with posting the reasoning behind it. Random question regarding iced players=no discussion rule, if you want to read it.

Many other sites have rules that Moderation actions should not be discussed publicly, because it just starts drama. "Oh no! Why did (famous person) get banned? Will they get unbanned?" and it's hard for admins to justify their actions because then the outrage will only become bigger as they want the famous person back, stating that they are absolutely and 100% innocent and that there are "false accusations" and whatnot.

Even if the famous person gets unbanned, then it'll be drama about how the admins have "protected users" and that they never get banned no matter what, etc...

The easiest to way to solve this problem is to just not allow public discussion of Moderation actions, simple.
