So, Subeta needs a little bump imo and I think its monetization should change a bit so we're more willing to spend on the site. I used to spend quite regularly with CWs and stuff, but completely lost my interest after the massive push on CWs, it's just overflooded rn and we can a clear burn out in the CW market around 2019-20...
I believe our current best deal is the subscription, and maybe we could use an alternative or substitute for the monthly collections.
So yeah, like any modern game on PC/consoles/mobile, my suggestion is a season pass, idk the duration, it could be a month, maybe two... With "levels" that you go through as you complete missions, and there's a free path so everyone can get a few goodies and a paid path, with more goodies to those willing to pay.
It works like this: each mission gives a certain amount of pass EXP, and each level of the pass has a free and a paid reward, it could be pet battle EXP, sP, a little bit of CSC for higher levels or milestone levels, and an exclusive item for the free path in the last level, with other 2 or 3 items in the same set/theme of the free item in the paid pass (maybe $10 if it's monthly or $15-20 if it's bimonthly).
Rough idea:
Missions suggestions:
No. Hell No.
I'd rather see Keith put an axe in the servers than seeing Subeta go back to predatory gaming models like season passes (remember collections and weighted mystery boxes that totally weren't lootboxes, guys?)
Season Pass are predatory and work on the primal FOMO people have. They're absolutely not player friendly and are something that should be shooed away from the gaming world, not encouraged.
Have to admit, I don't remember any kind of gamified collections.

The old DP system, which at least at the same odds on everything, but once wearables were introduced, it was obvious that not everything was selling for the same.
The worst offenders were the weighted boxes with character wigs and the likes, where we had tons of like, familiars, but the odds were against users to get the hair coupons that mimicked NPCs. That was kinda sleazy.
Thanks goodness that the Cash Shop really moved on from these practices. Much healthier this way
This kind of thing is exhausting to participate in for a casual player (and sometimes for a non-casual player) on top of the reasons already mentioned. No support
we have monthly subscription items and reward card shop, so I don't see how this is FOMO-inducing in a website like Subeta, since no item is actually out of reach bc they can be sold for sP. It's a way to engage a bit more imo and to monetize since the site needs some money to be alive and keep producing content/events (which we aren't getting lately). Besides, between events there's basically nothing to do for most people.
hi. i read the whole thing and i am stressed (my autistic butt don't let me play regular games for hours or the whole month) i just log in daily for few minutes. subeta is friendly whit the casual players and the people that don't have much free time to play...and some neurodivergent. yo can do whatever you like when you can , only the holidays have a deadline but we dont are forced to do it.
if the CEO wants more moneys, physical merchandise...real beanbags plushies or whatever else, always is an more affordable option. than another insANE subscribe every month to be forced to play + pay to win :(
my avatar is broken on kumos, the site dont recognize that i am wearing masks, use the legacy if you want dance whit me.

I think having weekly or monthly tasks to fulfill for rewards is an alright idea, I'd like that. Not daily though, I think Subeta being more casual and allowing for just as much time as you want to spend on it is a valuable part of the game. Instead of quests which there is a lot of incentive to do anyway, it could focus more on functions like baking, gardens, and games/battling/donating/posting etc which is already mentioned. And probably without requiring doing every task, since some of these don't work for everyone (Item Hunt is closed off to you if you complete it, Tiles apparently doesn't work for everyone, etc). Major Drills I know is already supposed to bring attention to the more niche features on site, but I still think a more prominent system like this which is not daily/largely unrewarding/kind of tedious could be interesting. And of course generate some regular activity and excitement on site. I like the idea of getting battle EXP as one of the prizes, and another source of currencies like referral points.
Unique items as prizes would be nice and could be another avenue for new items to be released, aside from collections and shops, like the monthly sub item is. But as for whether it should be a paid feature.. I guess it would be fine if it was included with subscriptions or GA. I don't really get games that make you pay to play generic content in it like season passes do, though. I've never played a game with a season pass, but from what I know it doesn't add new campaigns or stories and stuff like that, but is just doing regular game stuff for a new cosmetic(s) and currency right? idk maybe that part varies by game. But that's what's being proposed here too. Subeta does need some more incentives to spend money, but I think more in the vein of subscriptions and monthly battle opponents. Making the steady income option even more enticing, and giving non-HA-interested users things to spend money on. I think this weekly/monthly missions idea would work best with being available to everyone too, since it more solves for a different problem we have (lack of activity and things to do).
while i agree that subeta needs more and better ways of bringing it cash that aren't cws, this isn't it. no support.
There have been contests and events in the past that required daily activities. While they may have been fun, they were exhausting and stressful after a while. I end up only doing the "required" stuff and neglecting all the other things I enjoy about the site because I only have limited time to get it all done. It becomes a chore rather than fun. This can work as an event for a few weeks, maybe even as long as a month, but as a working model going on all the time to "improve the site and cause engagement", I would quickly come to dread spending time onsite.
Finally people can't manage to come on every day to click a button to get great prizes from the bathhouse - and constant complaints about losing "streaks" that, beyond 30 days doesn't even give you anything meaningful.
Might be fun to set up as a "group/cult" though. Especially if you gear it toward newbies and make a big part of it exploring all the weird nooks and crannies of the site.

Please no. I am having a hard enough time finding excuses to still play this site at all, tbh - or get back into it really. This would be it for me, for real this time. I'm starting to lose my love for gaming in general because of this sort of thing.

Ohh that may have been far before I was able to buy from the CS.
This sounds like a good idea to lose a large chunk of the established player base. Season Passes suck, so I don't know why anyone would suggest it, but here we are — To implement something like this would be to misunderstand the demographic of Subeta as it is now, imo. Games like Fortnite, CoD, Overwatch, and whatever else is doing Season Passes these days are played by dedicated gamers. They play those games for hours a day, so the quests they need to do to actually get their money worth from those passes are things they'd be doing regardless. Subeta has a much more casual player base, with many people not even being bothered to do more than the Wizard quests in a day, if that. Additionally, Subeta has a very small player based compared to the millions those games boast. If those games lose a few hundred people because players don't like their scummy business practices, it's no big deal. If Subeta loses a few hundred people, they might as well pack it in and quit.
I feel like all this would do is signal to users that Subeta has no regard for their time, and a lot of people would jump ship.
I want to make it clear, I want Subeta to make money. I would love if this site was self-sustainable, but this isn't the way to go about it.
No. Physical merchandise - production, shipping, storing, is not more affordable than subcriptions.
Physical merchandise is EXPENSIVE to produce, store and ship. Someone also has to spend their time managing and sending the purchases.
The one bit of physical merch I could imagine Subeta selling easily would be stickers if a Redbubble store was opened.
how do i turn off pvp
jokes aside, this would be Not Good and if there was anyway to get a plush, probably a campaign on makeship could work?
... Absolutely not.

no support here from me, and i also am pretty sure the staff would also agree. keith actually had a pretty decent blog post i just dug up (using way back machine, sorry for snooping but i remember reading it and it sticking with me, its a good article)
One of the things I love about subeta is how they treat real life currency and try to remain ethical and fair. Adding a battle pass and pressuring members with FOMO isn't ethical, eveb if it is "industry standard" now.
Honestly the current subscriptions are pretty good imo! if people want to support subeta, its right there. if you cant sub, maybe just grab some csc when you are able to. put your money where your mouth is (not directed to OP or anyone else, just using the idiom)
