sorry to bother but does anyone have any advice for coping with the symptoms
I got paxlovid but i’ve only taken one round because i got it in the afternoon
this absolutely sucks and i’m suffering. i’ve barely been on subeta because i don’t have the energy to do anything (sorry to anyone that might have messaged me). i was on a family vacation and the only person wearing a mask and I still got it
edit: i checked and i messed up my bathhouse streak but that’s ok it was only like 14 days
I had covid back in January, and my parents both currently have it.
Sadly all I can recommend is to take it easy and get lots of rest. If you work or have obligations, do not return until you are feeling completely better if possible. The job I had at the time refused to let me take any more time off than what the CDC recommended (which was five days) and when I returned to work I was still incredibly sick.
I have suffered the effects of long covid ever since, to the point where I lost my job in April and I have been trying to get assistance all year. I have yet to hear back on a decision.
The thing is, it doesn't effect everyone the same way. When I had it in January, I was absolutely miserable. I could barely get out of bed, I could not stop coughing, my chest hurt so badly that the only thing that provided me relief was sleep. But with my parents right now, they aren't having it as badly as I did. I do want to point out that I also was up-to-date with my vaccinations at the time I had it. Many people report losing appetite, losing sense of taste. I was so hungry the entire time, and I only had an issue with taste for about a day.
Get plenty of rest. If you can't sleep, just take it easy. Watch something that makes you happy, do minor activities like stuff on Subeta, listen to music or podcasts, just something to keep your mood better. Because I know that doing absolutely nothing isn't always easy.
I hope you get better soon <3
I'm sorry to hear you've caught it :(
Like said lots of rest is going to be your best friend. I had it in October, and it thankfully didn't hit me too hard (I had one really bad day, but other than that I was mostly fine, just felt off). The fatigue was the worst part and I had it for a couple weeks afterwards, along with a cough. I have an active job and it made it difficult to do despite not having any other symptoms at the time. My appetite was non-existent (smoothies were my best friend), and I did lose my sense of taste/smell for a couple days which was very strange lol But yeah, just nest up in your bed and get ready for a lot of movie/TV/YouTube marathons
I had it like a year and a half ago. I had the lack of energy 100%, the sweats and headaches and body chills. I also just this year got the VISCOUS headcold that has been lasting 2+ months... Between the two the headcold hurt me FAR more than COVID did. Sure with covid I was rather tired. I'd get drained by simply eating so wanted high calorie foods to off set that. And it took all day to muster energy for a bath to wash the daily sweating away. The longterm I had was dizzy spells, smell and tastes were off for about a year. No vaccine (allergy to glycerin thats in SO many meds) and I wore masks daily when out and working. Plus fervent hand cleaning and I got it from sitting in the car at the vet with my friend because her husband's work wasn't taking any protocol on being sick and also told nobody when an exposure happened. So he unknowingly brought it home, then it was unknowingly passed to my friend and myself through shared car air... I felt bad for about 4 days, then just the long term issues.
This headcold I have barely finished clearing has been horrible. Coughing the ENTIRE length. Often feverish, I've had to call out due to the fever breaks. Can't breathe. That gross sweet sick mucus taste and tired beyond compare. I truly felt like dog poop run over and scraped off a shoe with this. Two MONTHS of feeling that way off and on. I hardly sweat and this crap had me swimming in it daily. At night felt so cold despite blankets and heaters. And then the amount of snow coming from my face... just ewwwww morning and night, the colors were awful and I was WELL aware of my entire sinus cavity.
Overall I'm sure you'll be good. In both cases I made sure to take immunity supplements to help push the symptoms away. I however couldn't take any of the liquid otc relief. That stupid glycerin allergy even made it hard to find nose spray for clearing the headcold. Eat foods with higher calories to help keep energy up, or drink lots of smoothies and the like that have vitamins and calories.
FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.
