It is wild to me how bad autopricer has been lately. Routinely when looking at my shop log I am seeing items that should be selling for a few million sell for just a few sp. Today,

sold for 80,000sp when average shop price is 4.5 million.

sold for 995,000 sP when average shop price is 5.7m.

TWO sold for 2.090sp when average shop price is 469,000sp.

Please make it make sense. This is a LOT of profit loss, daily. I keep a gold account subscription for autopricing alone. but if it's going to continue to be so inaccurate I can do without. I am frustrated.

the holiday items - someone probably priced them lower (which it then autopriced yours to) bc worth less in vesnali coins than their ss price :v

the dovey was 2,090 sp until someone bought them all on the 19th (see subetalodge price history)

might be helpful to put your 1m+ stuff in a separate shop and hand price. :c

thanks for commenting. Even the original price for the dovey was 438,894 - as a retired item shouldn’t it at least retain its original value?

Edit: I wasn’t aware of subetalodge price history tool, thank you for showing me.

A lot of people also put things up in trades for payment for art, etc and iirc, that used to have/still has a detrimental effect on the average usershop price. It's nothing the autopricer is or isn't doing, it's still pretty much user error.

idk honestly selling (user shops) can be pretty slow so people drop prices by a lot all the time on everything haha. [sub]^ the recent price on the item hover is just the last time someone has searched that item + the lowest price at that time. only updates if refreshed when there is a purchase.[/sub]

yeah! when you search an item on SL and it says "Last Seen User Shop Price: 1,500,000 sP" - the price is the link to the graph ^^

but autopricer just prices to the lowest cached price so when someone prices theirs low, if it's been cached, yours is being priced low too.

In regards to what dalice said, is there a topic regarding the slow moving items in shops?

also just because holiday items are priced a certain way in user shops doesn't mean that's what they're actually worth. that aeanoid figurine costs 20 vesnali coins, which are worth about 16.2k each, making for a total value of 324k—so 80k is still a pretty big undercut, but nobody is actually going to buy that item at its current user shop prices of 4.5 mil, 5 mil, and 99 mil.

(and often when holiday items do get underpriced like that it's probably because the person had been trying to sell it for a while at its actual value, to no avail, and just wanted to get the thing sold. especially since if you've played for a few years you can end up with an abundance of holiday currencies to the point that 20 coins here or there is no big loss.)

basically, the autopricer isn't malfunctioning or being inaccurate. rather, there are two separate user-side factors at play here:

  1. people significantly lowering the price on an item because it hasn't been selling at its current price, and other users just happening to autoprice while that new lower price is cached.

  2. people hoarding and underpricing a certain item en-masse to bottleneck the market, creating a window of time when everyone autoprices that item down to the same low price, then buying up all those underpriced items to resell at a higher price. i haven't personally noticed this but other people have complained about it as a prevalent issue, and there have been suggestions made to deal with the problem like adding some sort of warning or notification on the autopricer for items whose prices will be lowered by a certain percentage.

Your post mentions average shop price rather than the current low. Are you autopricing to be the lowest or to match the average price? Maybe you priced using the wrong option?

If something is currently in a user shop for 10 sP and you autoprice to be the lowest price, your shop will also price it at 10 sP. It's not an error, just how it functions.
