I spoke to my department head and she says, even though buying/selling/trading Buddy GAs goes against the "spirit" of a buddy GA, you are allowed to commoditize the item (buy/sell/trade). However the selling of the item must be within the confines of the rules (no offsite currencies, not used to buy/sell pets or names, etc.).
