It would be really lovely if there was a quick way to see if we already own an item before purchasing.

Most of the time I open additional tabs to check to see if I already own the item. But sometimes I forget to do it, and I've made a few costly CSC mistakes in the last month or so. I don't buy CW's for resale or investment value. I only ever buy a CW if I really really want it and plan to keep it forever. So some of the ones that I've accidently re-purchased are a little harder to trade or sell at the original cost because they're not rare or anything.

It would be great if the information was included on the popup when you hover over an item so tha we'd know immediately if we already own it or not.

My only concern is having that but you have multiple items across the site; I know for me, some items would say 1 in Wardrobe 1 in Gallery Trinketry 1 in Fearleading's Treasure Chest 1 in Plushie Collection

If it's possible to code something like this into the site, then I'm all for it! I know that's what the account search feature is for, but I'm lazy and I forget to use it most of the time anyway. It'd be cool if it could be extended to all items, though - as a longtime user, I have junk squirreled away in weird places on my account and I sometimes don't realize I already own an item, lol.

I don't really think this is necessary with the Account Search link being right there in the same hover. I thought I'd also heard that adding too many things to the hovers tends to cause lag, especially on pages with lots of items, and I assume multiple account searches being ran (since that's basically what this is) on each of those pages would be especially resource-heavy

Also, in addition to the issue mentioned, I just find adding extra info to the hover isn't all that helpful. I've seen so many questions about baking and alchemy levels when those things are right there on the hover. So while it might be helpful, I'm guessing that it wouldn't be worth it in the end.

I don't support this at alllll, and the reason is: data retrieval! I don't remember exactly how it works, as I'm not personally tech-savvy & have just seen Keith explain this stuff before, but the site actually has to do a lot of processing behind the scenes to check whether someone owns a specific item. In some cases it checks against every single item that every single user on the site owns. That's wayyy too much added strain on the servers just to avoid a few people making an accidental double purchase. The account search link is already right there, too, so it feels more like a case of personal responsibility.

Just use account search and/or SubetaLodge. There was a reason they removed this from wishlists - it ate up resources and time. I do not wish for more lag. I mean this in the kindest way; I’m just tired.

I love the idea but I fear it would tax the site/servers too much :(
