Looking for friends <3 I've been kind of quiet here and was going through my friends list this morning realizing that many have left the site or are otherwise inactive or much less active. (If you're an old friend please say hi!) I wanted to start this thread for those of us that are trying to quest daily and might need help with accountability. Also looking for conversation. My interests include:

-true crime shows -perfume -paganism (-ish) is anyone celebrating Mabon? this will be my first sabbat observation. -existentialism and musings about life and its weirdness and complexities

and lots of other stuff that's just not coming to mind right now.

I am going to do a huge wardrobe clearout of non-CWs soon. I'll see if I can send some your way if I ever get the spare time to do a deep dive. I'm a new mommy so time is not something I have much of lately. But I do desire to do a clearout. I have over 20k items in my wardrobe and trying to make a HA sucks right now.

I am, it's hard not to love the free shop! I haven't gotten anything crazy yet but the surprise makes it fun regardless of what the item is. I haven't even started into the Keelhauliday stuff. I actually normally wait until late at night to try and RS because I have slightly better luck then. What's your favorite holiday on Subeta?

I'm having a fall city wedding. It's going to be on the private event floor at a restaurant. The aesthetic of the restaurant is "Colonial American hunting lodge," so cozy nooks, dried flowers, oil paintings of animals, hunting trophies, warm woods, bookshelves, overstuffed chairs, and general autumn vibes. Typically I'm drawn to fresh scents for my daily use, but I'd love something warm and feminine for my wedding perfume. I'm thinking woody (sandalwood, vanilla) and floral, and I'd like something in a nice bottle (pretty or minimalist) for bridal details photos.

Sooooo I haven't forgotten you! Just been doing a ton of research. The first scents that came to mind immediately upon reading your theme were:

1. Tom Ford Santal Blush - Think spicy, with a floral heart and intense base notes of oud, sandalwood and cedar. The only thing with this one is that it's pretty unisex and not inherently feminine. I think you might prefer something a bit yummier and with more floral overtones.

2. Byredo Velvet Haze - Byredo can be a polarizing house and I definitely would email them and ask for a sample, or go take a sniff before a blind buy, but I'm obsessed with this house and Velvet Haze is no exception, Byredo's site describes this as Top: Ambrette, Coconut Water Heart: Patchouli Leaves Base: Cocoa Absolu, Wild Musk. I know it's a bit of a departure from the above listed notes you've described but you might like it, so I thought it was worth mentioning, and Byredo packaging doesn't miss. Imo it was made for photographing. I also love Byredo Seven Veils, it's discontinued but it was absolutely gorgeous, unforgettable, and the name is in keeping with the theme.

Now, based more squarely on your desired notes, here are a few more to discover-

Goldfield & Banks Silky Woods - agarwood, suede, exotic vanilla, tobacco leaves, saffron, incense, Ylang-ylang, Australian sandalwood

By Killian Angel's Share - The bottle is to-die-for and looks like a crystal glass of cognac in the sexiest way. Top note is Cognac; middle notes are Cinnamon, Tonka Bean and Oak; base notes are Praline, Vanilla and Sandalwood.

Boucheron Ambre d'Alexandrie - Top notes are vanilla, benzoin and tobacco; middle notes are labdanum and amber; base notes are ambergris and musk. Some people say this smells like hot apple pie with vanilla ice cream, some say it is amber and polished wood, but almost unanimously, all that try it love it, and the bottle is gorgeous.

Vilhelm Parfumerie Poets of Berlin - Top: Blueberry, lemon Heart: Vanilla, Green wild orris Base: Vanilla, sandalwood, vetiver. These bottles from Vilhelm are gorgeous, they have a vintage glam vibe to them. I think the notes on this one sound really fun and adventurous.

Mizensir's For Your Love - Top: Raspberry, Exaltone (musk) Heart: Cachalox (woody-amber accord) Base: Benzoine essence, patchouli heart - everything about this from the bottle, the name to the notes screams romance to me.

Heretic Parfum's Dirty Vanilla - supposedly a vanilla musk with a dirty twist. The bottle is universally pleasing and would be great for photos.

Mancera Vanille Exclusive - Top: Osmanthus Flowers, White Peach, Brown Sugar, Whipped Cream Heart: Tuberose, Jasmine, Violet Base: Vanilla, Amber, White Musk, Sandalwood

A note: A lot of these are available in sample format on the website Twisted Lily, which is my favorite online boutique for fragrances. I went shopping last weekend and checked out some scents from Jo Malone. I'll continue my search this weekend using your guide, and hopefully I'll find the one. My dress and hair ended up being pretty different from what I initially had planned (lol), so I'll let you know whatever I decide on. 😊 [edit] Hey! So I was able to check out Santal Blush, Angel’s Share, and Velvet Haze during my shopping trips. I surprised myself and ended up going with Byredo Inflorescence (usually I’m not big on jasmine but I loved it in this). Thank you for the Byredo rec! The shop was amazing and the scents were truly special.
