Go to the challenge opponent page in the BC (first link at top of BC). You'll see a text like below if you are in battle: Challenge an Opponent You are already in a battle! Click here to continue the battle! Click here to forfeit.
You can try to continue the battle but if you still get a message that the battle doesn't exist, then use the forfeit option.
