I know I will probably get dinged for suggesting this, but is it possible (I am begging here), to allow prepaid debit cards for subscriptions? I do not own a credit card, and do not share my banking info on any site. I use strictly a prepaid debit card for online purchases, to protect myself. I can appreciate the reasoning that there is no way to tell if there will be money on a prepaid debit card, to cover a rotating purchase, but is that the only reason Subeta does not have this as an option? I use my prepaid debit card for many online subscriptions, without difficulty. Please help me understand why I can't use it here, for the same. I mean, I use it for CSC purchases, and have actually used it in the past for my subscription, without difficulty. I began having trouble with it about 6 months ago. Now, even with the company making Subeta a "safe site," it won't always work. FRUSTRATING beyond measure. I love supporting Subeta, and would love to give more, but have no way to do so without using the prepaid debit card. I want those perks of a subscription as well. lol Thank you. ❤

Sorry for double ping, moving this to the cash shop subforum.

Also I have my subscription tied to my debit card. Never has been a problem. Are you talking about a prepaid card instead? Or are you an international user?

@ Permanent Thank you so much. I am so awful at knowing where to put things.
Yes, I am talking about a prepaid card. I was informed by an admin, that they don't often work here for subscriptions. I never had a problem until about 6 months ago, then it kept canceling, saying that form of payment was not acceptable. I called VISA, and had them whitelist Subeta. (I think that is the correct term) It worked for one month, then the next, it came back saying that it was not accepted. VISA says there is nothing wrong with the card, (I know this, because I use it here all the time, buying CSC, as well as other sites) But for some reason, it just will not work when purchasing a subscription anymore. It is not related to a bank, it is just a prepaid card, I bought at WalMart a few years ago. It worked all the other times, but now I am told that prepaid cards rarely work for subscribing. :( I tried using PayPal, with that card as a backup - it will not work that way either. LOL I am at a loss. Why did it work before, but not now? I truly am not sure where to ask this question, but since an admin told me that they rarely work for subscribing, I just assumed no one's worked, unless it was attached to their bank.

Yeah a prepaid debit card is not the same a debit card which is why I was confused. I honestly don't think that is something Subeta has control over. It is the CC processor for recurring payment. Have you tried a different type of prepaid debit card like a MasterCard instead?

Thank you again, so much, for alerting me to my misuse of terms. I have changed my original post to reflect the word, "prepaid." As for the reason I am given each time it fails: it has always been different. I have not tried another type of card, such as MasterCard, since I was told prepaids don't usually work. I really miss subscribing. :( And while I purchase CSC with the card here, it's just not the same. I don't know....I just wish there was a way for me to continue subscribing, but I am at a loss as to how. Do you know why Subeta has no control over the use of the prepaid cards?

I can hazard a guess, which is that the services Subeta uses to process cards has that limitation. I highly highly doubt Subeta processes cards directly without a third party payment processor It requires a lot of encryption and whatnot because it is banking information.Big fines .etc if that banking data gets hacked .etc.

If PayPal doesn't let you than it is PayPal. If whatever the one on site doesn't than it it is that processor.

Like I personally use Stripe as a payment processor for my business and I don't have a choice in options. I just picked it because it had options I needed available. If Stripe decides to no longer take a certain card type, than I by extension can no longer take that card type.

Prepaid debit cards reloadable or not reloadable and just like one time gift cards are distinguishable to processors by the number combination. That is how when you enter a card's details it knows what type of card visa, discover .etc. So processors over time may have decided to block them from reoccurring due to an increase number of declines overall, not saying you in particular.

Please note: I am by no means an expert in this realm. Just hazarding a guess. the reason I asked about Mastercard is that sometimes it works and I don't know why.

PayPal allows the card, I just can't use it here on Subeta. I can use the card through PP on other sites, but when I try it here, it says that Subeta doesn't allow that card, or something along those lines of reasoning. We really have tried just about every avenue with that particular card, and each time, it gives a different reason, as to why it won't work. At this point, I just use it for CSC purchases here. I am just wondering if another type of prepaid card would work, or if I should just give up trying to subscribe.

Thank you so much for the info on the prepaid card processing. I suppose this is a pointless suggestion then. Kinda sad, but it is what it is. You can go ahead and lock this thread, since there doesn't seem to be a way around it, at least for now. And thank you so much for all info. ❤

The only other thing I can think is it is to combat fraud. Bank accounts and regular debit cards are tied to a person. Not all reloadable debits need that sort of information. Sorry it doesn't seem to be an option at the moment. I really don't know if a MasterCard one would work, but in the past it has for me. I will lock this as requested but I do hope you can find a way. I am sorry so far you cannot.
