I admittedly don't have any specific suggestions since I don't know anything about ideas you might have in mind -- but I do have a handy resource to share! Subetalodge has this great tool called the Minionizer that makes it easy to browse minions by various categories. It even lets you select the type of pet you're seeking a minion for so that you can easily compare pet and minion side by side while you browse.
