I've changed the pet focus for my pet's icon, but while it shows correctly on my profile, it still shows the weird shot of his tail in the forums. Any ideas why?

Its a cache issue. Stuff often takes a while to propagate. You can usually do a forced reload (how to do it depends on your browser but hitting Ctrl F5 works on many).
