Dumb Question from a Battle Newb

Hello and thank you in advance!! I was planning to make a pet that is based on an OC superhero I have for a role-playing campaign and have the pet be my battle pet. However, I recently had then transferred from another account so it seems I can't use them to battle? Will this wear off? Can I eventually have them battle in the Colosseum or should I choose another pet?
