I have suddenly gained gold account status (gold user icon, extra quests per day, access to the exclusive part of the forum, etc.), but I have no idea how or why. I didn’t buy one or redeem a medal, so I’m not really sure what’s going on.

Did you get an event saying someone gifted you a Buddy Gold Account?

I thought that might be it, but I didn’t receive any kind of notification, and no one messaged me or anything like that.

If you file a ticket, the admins should be able to look at your account logs and figure out where it came from. ^^
