Hello! I poked around the first few pages and didn't see this mentioned, I apologize if this isn't the right place for this. Which sort of incorporates into my point... The forums are way too fragmented. It's nice to have everything neatly sorted, but it's hard (for me, anyway) to know where I am supposed to post. I would love to participate in the forums, but it's also hard to know where people are actively posting, with so many sections to browse. For me, the forums feel really inactive, but it could just be that it's hard to judge how active they are because there's so many different sections. If the consensus is that we do not want the forums condensed into broader categories, perhaps a "recent topics" tab on the main forum page that lists the topics most recently posted in - not just ones you've posted in? (Excluding forum games, where this would prove problematic.) Or maybe incorporate some sort of forum sorting option that shows the most active posts. (Overall, across all topics) Thanks for listening!

The forums are dead. I suspect most people are posting in Discord. The main active areas (other than games forum) that I can see are in group forum topics.

There did used to be a recent posts section, its still there: Forum Pulse Most recent forum posts, updated in real-time | Settings However, its not active. It was shut down when we were experiencing a lot of lag and glitches, and they haven't turned it back on. That feature replaced an older feature that was even laggier. So I'm guessing we won't be seeing it return any time soon, or anything similar.

I keep most of the forums collapsed. The only things I keep open are Subeta, Subeta Features, and a few select forum group areas. This helps keep things more "condensed" for me.

I don't know if there's anything that can really be done to improve the forum situation. People are leery of posting for a variety of reasons. From fear of posting in the wrong place, fear of getting mocked or harassed, fear of getting in "official" trouble, to personal feelings of anxiety or shyness.

Forums are an obsolete way of communication. Communication is now done on discord and live chats.

So yeah, they're going the way of the dodo, unless it's an event and even then, there isn't much in the way of long conversations.

We're doing a forum squish sometime soon, that'll reduce the number of individual forums down to relatively few (<10).

I agree that conversation in general has shifted to discord, but I disagree that 'forums are dead'. I think it's generally a bad thing for the internet as conversations move away from public forums to private, decentralized, conversation hubs like discord. They serve a different purpose, there is no way to keep contextual or long standing information in a discord.

We agree that the forums here aren't as alive as we'd like, and agree that cutting down on the number of places to choose where to talk will help. Also live updating, and things like that :)

That will be helpful for people trying to get 100 forum posts for the Blue Building.

I really like this sentiment and I'm looking forward to how the forums will be reorganized.

I'm excited for the forum revamp. :D I don't think forums should be discounted for chat servers off-site. I like seeing people's avatars, signatures, pet leashes, etc. And all of that is missing on chat servers. It's really a shame people are trading the forums for faster moving options at the expense of a larger community. I hope the revamp restores some life in the forums.

I’m looking forward to a forum revamp. Chat servers aren’t as practical for people with less leisure time for Subeta.

I love the idea of a forum squish.

I agree re: discords. I'm terrible at checking them and to be honest don't use them super often. I don't even think I'm on the Subeta discord.

Ooh I’m excited for the forums to be squished, I think the forums appear dead cuz they’re so spread apart and aside from a handful of very active subforums, most have only a few (if any) active threads.

EDIT: I’m bitter about Discord lol, I don’t like it it’s too fast paced and gives me anxietaaaay

Double edit, it's now July 5th and I was thinking: we should do away with the GA forum. It's silly to have an exclusive forum that people can only see if they have a GA, especially considering most people have one now anyway cuz of the addition of buddy GAs! Also, it seems like a lot of people gravitate to the GA forum cuz it's 1, at the top of the page, and 2, is a one-stop shop for many active, varying threads.
