Alternate title: Say how long you've been playing on Subeta without saying how long you've been playing on Subeta. I'll go first.

When I first joined, there were no separate tabs for items when you did quests. You had to already have your own tabs open and had to copy-paste the item names in the search bar. You weren't told if the item was in stock in the main shops and could only see what was available in the user shops.

If you wanted to change your pet's name, you needed an Identity Star Shuriken from the Cash Shop.

The first rule of the Blue Building is: You don't talk about the Blue Building.

There was no Masquerade, no Vesnali, no Fireside, No Port Plunder, no Survival events or Zombie Den, no Subeautique Invitations, the Subeta map was a globe, Amy was still alive, and I had missed the limited run of real life Kumos plushies and I'm still sad about it.

I joined because the angelic Keeto was calling me and Neopets recent conversion was terrible, I wanted something else to play along with Gaia I guess. Keeto, Sheeta & Montre at the time were my favorite pets. I think my Sheeta became Ice and I don't remember at all what my Montre was. I remember when the site layout changed and thought it was lame because change. I remember not being able to have that option to change your name freely too. The pound always had pets in it. I participated in a survival event that involved sending other users valentine gifts I think, me and one user started sending each other weird shocking stuff like thongs and goat heads it was funny lol. Other than that I remember mostly not participating in events. And Angelic potion was 20,000,000 sP at the time. Wizard quests are still a pain to complete. xD;

Just mentioning Gaia definitely gives me an idea of the time period. xD

I joined during the very first Subeta pandemic

When I first started playing there was no wardrobe and no achievements. There were hidden icons you could find, which were kind of like achievements. We were still celebrating real world holidays and hadn't yet switched to Subeta flavored ones. Trivia was still going strong. The Aeanoid, garden and seedling shop did not exist. And the Long Cat debacle was still in the future.

I remember there was some pushback against the human avatars because people were losing their forum icons lol. Back in the day, I spent most of my time on the official oekaki.

lol I still miss my icon. In fact I still have the full image I cropped it from. I liked not being forced to have a HA at all times.

But then, I became pretty good at glitching out the wardrobe so I could wear more than one item on a layer.

Long Cat happened not long after I joined. I'm still surprised I stuck through it considering you could barely do anything on site during that time.

I remember when Vending was a page by page click..... good times.

Same with battling, every move refreshed the page fully... you could do long sprints of battling then head to your inventory and see what random event goodies you may have missed lol.

Having to 'sacrifice' a layer to use more than one item on one layer.

The site going down for almost 2 weeks due to some server issues and most people hanging out at Subetalodge forums to keep connected.

There was a hard cap of pets for everyone and it was around 20 if I am remembering correctly. There were random events that could take your points/items and there was no lock/unlock system to protect them. I joined subeta because I'd left neo after Donna and Adam sold it. (That really ages me lol)

My account's two years old, but it's just now this year that I'm fully actually playing it.

Mew: played for a bit, took a few breaks, and came back to be very confused why names were no longer exclusive and went "whoa how is this name available?" with a few pets before we realized XD

I joined not too long before the Rift was introduced for the first time. Not the daily game, the actual Rift itself, which at that point was used for time travel. I had no idea what was going on but I did the plot anyway and apparently it resulted in a dead character being brought back by changing the past so that he didn't die, but I wasn't around for the plot where he did die so I had no context for that.

I'm sure I recall you used to have to enter a captcha or something when buying from shops, and I think you could haggle the prices as well, but they eventually removed that. There was also no shop search button under the items that quests asked for, and Shengui Guo wasn't there yet. Oh, and you also had to buy wrapping paper for sending gifts from the no-longer-existent Holiday Shop, and it existed as actual items (you can still get some from places that give out retired items).

I'd forgotten about those captchas. It was awful trying to type them in fast in order to get better times for Wizards quests. And yes, you could haggle.
