Hey guys! I've fairly new, and there's SO MANY pets to pick from! I'm finding myself struggling to pick my next, and I've spent so much time in the Subetapedia entries already. So I thought I'd ask how you went about choosing? I'm only two pets in, with only one of the two being my dream color for them. TIA! <3

I just went through all of the pets and made a list of the base color ones that looked cutest to me. Then I picked whatever I thought was my favorite and explored the different colors for that pet. Then I realized that I thought some of the colors were cute and looked at all of the pets in those colors. I basically settled on two pets I liked (chai and the harvester) and I'm really only paying attention to those. I have a "placeholder" pet that I kept zapping and turning into random things. And I got one of those... um. Unicorn looking things since I liked the glacier color on it. But honestly (and maybe it's because I'm coming from neopets) I don't really want more than that. I get that this is a pet game but more than four is just too much for me. I probably would have been happy with two tbh.

Mine choose usually when a species/color strike a chord with my various branching story interests. A good example is Darkmatter Blobs, they closely match the physical appearance of my fursona's species, or the current choice Hydrus Mortiking. I kept a name that would embody both the Hydrus palette and Mortiking demeanor.

My first choice was Common Keeto, who imo resembles an Eevee. My current flock has much depth that at this time isn't del expressed, and in some cases have changed to reflect my own changes.

I only recently established my limit at 43, if someday a good enough change is made I may give an existing pet the makeover. One possibility is a Riftborn Noktoa, the prospect could convince to change Midnight Eye.

Right now my next pet is based on what items I've previously Wishlisted to put in their TC. I thought of a pet that had a relative who was a time traveler, which means I'll have to get the for that pet. I almost always buy new slots for pets, so I think that might be the next pet I get. Why? Because I rarely get new slots, only from loyalty boxes and Quest-a-thon. So I need to prioritize the pets I want to get. My last pet,

My first pet was chosen based on what I wanted most - a dragon. From there, I thought about animal variety and possible seasonal/holiday themes. A couple others based on fave media creatures. A friend directed me to the petpedia and that's helped alot more to decide what type fits a pet for me. Slowly growing a list for myself after about a year on subeta~

I tend to keep an eye out for different pets as I browse the site, and when I realise a particular one is really striking me repeatedly I look more into it in terms of what colour I'd then like. Otherwise, I go with things that really strike me on creation. I like cute but weird-cute so something like a Donadak will probably be what I want next.
