So I'm in the mood to hear a few ghost stories. Especially after today when we saw video of our back freezer opening by itself at 3 am.
Prize will be a paid public copy of and there will be three winners. The spookiest three will win. Please see edit below. Those who have posted, thank you! I have chicken skin now!
This will run until Saturday, October 30th. Have fun!
Edit: It has been brought to my attention that not many people have spooky experiences. So I’m expanding it a bit further. Describe your worst fears/phobias if you don’t have a spooky experience to share :)

OK so this was a few years back, I was staying at the friends place and it was a little after midnight, night was boring and nothing happening so I was getting ready for bed. Dunno why but I happened to look over at the dresser in the room, she had kept an old digital camera there, the lens was facing the wall and I could see the little screen on the back... it had turned on all by itself, of course just showing a white background with the name of the of the camera showing... But you see q0 minutes before that, the screen was blank... off....
Needless to say I was so freaked out I grabbed the camera and shoved it in the closet and pretty much cried so hard til I passed out. It really had me spooked!
To make things even freakier, I showed my friend the camra the next day... turns out there was NO batteries in it..... and it had been switched OFF the entire time ..... Um yeah... I never went back after that.
Hope that was OK as it was a true story. ^^;;;
I don't really know any scary stories but I can't wait to hear all of the others tell theirs <3

I have many stories, even ones passed down generations of my family. I'll write one that happened to me when I was about 5 or 6.
My bedroom that I had entirely to myself had 2 doors, one entered the hallway which led to other bedrooms (my sister and parents) and the other entered into the kitchen.
I remember it was late in the evening, the moon was shining through my lace curtains. My bed rested against the farthest wall underneath the window. If I were to turn around, I would face the other wall and see two open doors, one to the right of me and one to the left of me. The one to right led to the hallway, the one to the left led to the kitchen.
I would sleep facing the wall and window, but one night I felt something staring. I felt like a little voice inside my head said to turn around....so I did.
In the right doorway that led to the hallway, I saw something faint, almost misty, like when a thick fog rolls in. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust. There was something floating in the doorway.
My mother loves to sleep in cotton soft gowns. I wear them now myself. They're just so cozy. At the time of my story she had recently bought 2 gowns, exactly the same style, 1 pink and 1 blue.
Floating in the doorway was my mom's blue night gown. It was as if someone was wearing it, it floated off the floor where feet and ankles should be. The chest and straps looked like they were resting on shoulders. I stared from my bed. I was so gripped with fear and curiosity all at the same time.
I gently and slowly uncovered myself and got out of bed. Slowly I walked towards the center area that was between both doors, never looking away from this figure wearing what looked to be my mom's gown. I never took my eyes off of it, but as soon as I was in front of it, it slowly faded away.
It was like I suddenly came back to reality. I ran right through the same doorway the floating figure was in, straight down to my parent's bedroom and jumped onto their bed to lay right between the two of them.
I've had many experiences in my life. I've seen things, heard things, and felt things. I always try to think of a logical explanation first. Usually there is a way to explain experiences away. My mom was not wearing that blue gown that night. She was not standing in my doorway checking in on me. Something was there that night.
Thanks for the chance to share a story! c:
Ooh thanks for the contest!
So my parents liked to go around graveyards and took me and my brother along. They liked looking at the names and seeing if they could find anyone that might be related to my mum. Naturally this was kinda boring to my brother and I so we just found ways to entertain ourselves. I didn't know which person they were looking for but I suddenly stopped in front of a grave, with goose bumps on my skin and called to them that this was the person they were looking for. It was.
oh man, i'm pretty sure where i work is haunted. we're a relatively new store and what was there before was a store that had been in the space for 80 years or so. there's an upstairs to our store where we store extra stock. it has a door that leads to the roof, but it's big enough to be another room, honestly. the door is always shut and locked.
the upstairs shares the floor with the ceiling of the store, so you can hear things pretty clearly downstairs when things are being moved around upstairs. we have a lot of ladders and they're tall and heavy to reach things up high, so we struggle to move them and often drag them against the floor since it's a hassle to close them and awkwardly lift them.
during the summer months, we always had the ac on and it was never that cold on the floor or in our breakroom, but it was always freezing upstairs. we never thought much about it, but there were a few times when i thought i heard footsteps coming up the stairs but i was actually alone. i dismissed it because nothing else had happened, but it was definnitely the start of something.
the last couple of weeks my coworker has been saying that it sounds like moving/footsteps upstairs. she comes to work early to let the cleaners in and she's alone. it feels really weird upstairs now, like someone is watching you. (i do noooot like going up there alone anymore)
last weekend, my other coworker came into the store to one of our products on the ground pointed at them. it's a product that we keep inside a box and stacked on top of each other so there's no way it could have fallen since the box is pretty secure unless you open it intentionally since there are flaps.
and then a few days ago, the bathroom door wouldn't open in the morning. my coworker put his entire body weight against the door (you push it to open it) and he said it felt like something was keeping it shut and was pulling from the other side.
the land used to be owned by a farming family and the history behind them is pretty bloody and tragic.
i am a baby and i am terrified lol. cheers to me putting this out into the universe in the hopes that this thing is just playing games and not out for blood lol
Well... my story would be the following
in 2000 I went to a holiday with a friend of mine to the Black Forest in October. We had a great time and decided to watch "Sleepy Hollow" in the afternoon, before we went out to a restaurant in the middle of the woods to have dinner. Dinner was great - we had a wonderful time UNTIL we came out after dinner and we had to walk home through the woods (no car could come to the restaurant) It was getting dark and the mist was rising through the lawns and the wood.
We were just looking at each other - shivering and I think we both thought it was not the best idea to watch "Sleepy Hollow" before. We were very jumpy and whenver we heard a crack / noise on our way back we sounf around, being scared to death.
Luckily we had a flash light with us - and after a while we started singig stupid songs
I can not recommend that! It still gives me chills - and I know... Logically we know NO headless rider... But the creepy mist that came up that night... shudders
a brighter memory...
When the kids were small I used to dress up as wicked with for Halloween and whenever kids kncked at the foor I was doing the line from Hänsel and Gretel" where she asks who is eating at her gingerbread house with a snarly voice before I opened the door. Those were cheap Halloweens, more then half ofthe children coming to trick or treat simply ran aways.....
thank you for the contest!

I wouldn't say my experience is spooky like some above, but it still has me wondering though.
So my husband and I bought his grandfather's house, who passed away there in 2015. Our son was born in 2018 and he used to sleep in the same room we did for awhile because it was so much easier tending to a newborn then. Well, one night around 3am or so, I was asleep after nursing our son and the door to our bedroom suddenly slammed shut and open again. I immediately wake up and grab our son from his bed and hear my husband rushing in to see what happened to see if we are okay. All three of us go into the den and pretty much sleep there for the rest of the time. The next day my husband and I talked about what might have happened and we think, maybe the house was settling, but wouldn't there have been more noise with that? All these maybes, but then we landed on, maybe it was his grandfather, who might have left a presence at his house. We still aren't sure what or who might have slammed the door, but it hasn't happened since 2018.
Not entering, but I remember this strange and kind of spooky experience....
I remember when I was 13ish years old, I was alone in the bathroom, with the bathroom door open, suddenly I hear this cough of a man's very close to me, and I thought I saw a shadow passing by the bathroom. I stared out of the bathroom wondering what it is...
Hmm also one time I thought I saw a shadow on the wall appearing and quickly disappearing.... never knew what it is.
Sometimes I feel I'm haunted 🤣
My whole family is really in tune with the super natural. When I was really young I would sleep on a bed in my sisters room on the floor and she had played with a ouija board earlier in the day. We had like a whole game shelf. So she put it back and in the middle of the night half the games fell. We figured we just didn't put it up there well. So we did it again and it fell again. Finally we put it UNDER several games and it kept falling every day for almost a week. It was pretty scary, I was really young and I still remember it.
and for a really spooky story.
One day we were all playing on subeta and then we all kept getting 504 errors. It was a horror. We didn't know what to do. We all scrambled to discord in a hurry is subeta broken what is going on? Then the worst we could imagine the site black screened of death. (XDDD joke story XD but also HORROR story XD)
@ Shelbie uh time to set the freezer on fire Also @ hell is haunted pass it on
i don't know if this counts, but I don't have any super scary direct experiences so I'll just share the stuff I deal with from time to time. I don't know if my eyes are just bad or my brain is too active in its down time but I'll see shit that isn't there. I fluctuate between mild dread and complete annoyance with this. For example, one of the additional reasons I sleep with the TV on is because figures form in the darkness. Not all the time. They're vague, definitely human in shape, and every time I see them they get bolder. There's only one at a time, but the figures aren't just that thing you glimpse out of the corner of your eye, though that shit irritates me too. I can look at these directly, but there isn't anything legitimate to focus on, just dancing darkness.
Basically these figures are darker than the darkness around them. They move, not quite as smoothly or mechanically as a human but instead it's almost like a pulsing darkness that remains even when I blink. They usually start up in a dark corner of the room, the ceiling or the doorway, and they'll come to me. They don't feel, sound or smell like anything, but they often join me on the bed and i mean on the bed, directly on top of me. It's progressed to that darkness kind of.. I don't know, siphoning something? It's like it has these arms or tendrils or something that seem to just.. wrap around me that I can't feel. I'm 99% sure I've just seen too many movies but it's still less than grand that this has happened multiple times. I can move, I'm not asleep, and usually I get rid of them by turning my phone screen or light on. They don't talk, they don't attack, there's no sound or anything that makes me believe they're anything more than a simple delusion. I've spoken to them and waved my hand around with no changes.
I guess the thing that makes them a bit creepier is that I mentioned these guys to my mom a few years back and she told me she has it too, just one that looms in her doorway and she believes it's her dad watching over her. Which, yknow, sweet notion but I never met the guy and I don't have any dead kin or friends that would justifiably be watching over me. 👎
I’ll start by saying, I’ve always believed in ghosts. I used to live across the street from an abandoned schoolhouse, and behind that is a graveyard. I remember distinctly smelling my grandmother’s perfume after she died, at times when I needed comfort. So it wasn’t too hard for me to make that jump. So this story takes place in my aunt’s house. I used to dog-sit for them for about a week or so every summer when they went to visit family in Maine. And their house is haunted. It’s remodeled, but the house is quite old. It was my uncle’s great-aunt’s house. The basement has the original wine cellar, which is basically just a hole in the ground of the cool storage. It’s very creepy and I avoided going to the basement when I was there alone because it had a very unsettling vibe. But the most activity was on the second floor, particularly around the attic. Their main bathroom is upstairs, as well as their bedrooms. My aunt offered to let me sleep in her room, but I never would. I always slept downstairs on the couch. But Buster, their dog, would always come with me when I went upstairs to shower and sat outside the bathroom door until I came out. And one particular night, I heard him whining outside the door. I got out of the shower, got dressed, and opened the door. He was staring at the spot below where the dropdown ladder pulls down to get into the attic. I called his name and he wouldn’t budge. The atmosphere was tense and I quickly grabbed my things and went downstairs. He would only come away from the spot once I was on the stairs and hurrying down. He was on edge for the rest of the night and the house made more noises than usual. He slept on the ground next to me. After that, I started asking questions and it turns out his great aunt died in the house. Needless to say, I was a little hesitant to watch the house alone after that!
- Just letting you know that even if you guys don't win this color, you all will be eligible for invites to the reverse color of this that's currently sitting in queue (its white mask with black marks). You guys have posted some seriously creepy stuff...especially FlyingKat lmao! That's a horror story we can all relate to :D
Thank you! ^_^
Very cool :) ty
I don't really remember how I found out the history of the courthouse but no matter what time of year it was, when I walked to school in the morning the parking lot was always foggy. I believe at one point my mind played tricks on me because I swear I saw a fog clearing one day and beyond it was a set of gallows. I think that day started my mini obsession with the building. Granted it was over 20 years ago so my memories to the experiences are pretty vague. When I first saw the gallows I was terrified and I ran to school crying. I ended up finding out that the building used to be a courthouse and that people were hung in the (now) parking lot, I also found out that the courthouse served as a physical archive for a bunch of local newspapers.
Over the next few weeks maybe even months, after school and on my lunches I'd go to the courthouse and look thru the microfilm reader. I read about all kinds of things. More than a few times I had awkwardly creepy things happen to me. One time I could hear a dog barking and growling in another room, which if you looked online apparently other people have experienced a dog with red eyes turning into a man. One time I rushed to the actual courtroom because I heard a high pitched scream and a loud crashing sound then the lights turned off. I don't know if I've ever been more freaked out in my life. From what I read on the microfilm the only person to have died in the courthouse was a father that fell from the second floor "sky box" after his son was sentenced to hanging.
The lights flickered a lot and I'd argue it was an older building and the microfilm reader moving on it's own is probably just the button over spinning but like who really knows right?
Bonus story: The Herkimer Diamond Mines
When I was 16 Cory and I went with his mom and her boyfriend to visit Salem, Mas. After walking through the city and even the graveyards I'd say the town totally has an aura of sadness and felt just heavy to be, but at the same time I think it was overhyped and overdone. What REALLY freaked us out was when we got lost in Herkimer.
The way home was boring as shit, Cory's mom came across the Herkimer Diamond Mines which was supposed to be an offsite attraction that was basically an old shut down mine and at the time it seemed like the worst idea ever. After getting to Herkimer things instantly got weird. It was dim and foggy and the town itself was quiet. Too quiet. We passed a Target that was empty and nearly every other business was empty. We could smell fire and we eventually found said fire but there was no one around the fire or in the backyard it was lit. We passed a Ponderosa which had a few cars outside but again no people. After all this happened we came up to this great AMAZING conclusion that the town was full of cannibals and the reason no one was around was because they were all being eaten and we freaked ourselves out so much we waited until we got to another state to eat dinner. We saw ONE single person in that town and they were in a fucking ice cream truck parked at a car dealership on the edge of the town. Said ice cream truck was called "Mr.Ding-a-lings Ice Cream". Like what... the.... fuck.
