Talk about birds, rant about birds, share bird stories. Do you have a bird? Tell me about it!
My coworker had a friend pass away, and that friend left her son a sweet little Jenday conure that she'd had for thirty years. He's a hatchery imprint and we're in the USA, so about as far from his natural habitat as possible.
Her son was going to dump him at a local park.
Obviously, that's a terrible idea, so now my coworker has a Jenday conure. He seems to be adjusting really well, though!

Dump him? Poor little guy, glad to see that he is getting the love he deserves!
I will share the fact that where I live, there are like 3 separate bird colonies that often just perch on our building. I can't identify their species accurately, but one of the species is your typical green cute bird (they make SO much noise, but are very cute so forgiven), another one comes into a browish-grey-green combination (very quiet, very polite, usually seen in duos), and the last one is a group of vultures that some people here are actually scared about lol
Makes for some fun observation, and gratefully never seen those groups fight each other.
Vultures are neat dudes! I wonder what those little green peepers are; are there wild parakeets where you live?
My mother didn't know that turkey vultures can projectile vomit when angered; she found out the hard way when she found one who was resting after a big meal. The bird wasn't moving much, so she went to go make sure he was alright, and he projectile vomited on her in self-defense and took off.
I just remember hearing her screaming and cussing, and her friend hosing her off in the front yard. :'D

I had a lovebird who died a year ago she was the sweetest thing Now we have two conures and another the sibling to that lovebird The conures are siblings as well lol
Lovebirds are adorable! What color is yours?

Oh no, that's terrible! I'm glad your friend was able to intervene before the conure was abandoned. "Releasing" pets of any kind- birds, fish, cats, etc. is not ok, that's abandoning animals that people have put into a position of relying on them. We have a good population of turkey vultures where I live, I frequently hear a group of 20-50 of them roosting in the tallest tree in our neighborhood, they sound like a bunch of plastic bags caught in the branches. Which kinda makes sense, considering that they are big birds that only weigh like 2-4 pounds each. This year my mom got 8 new pet birds- chickens! I love them, they're so cute. We give them free range of the yard for most of the day, because they have plenty of places to hide from hawks, and we lock them into their run if we can't supervise them in the evening when the raccoons might come out. We've trained the chickens to come check us for treats, and they'll usually let us pet them and pick them up (their choice, they're pretty fast if they don't want to be picked up!) The chickens are so soft and delightful to pet, except sometimes when they've just been dust bathing in a new spot and are full of dirt. They're normally very clean though.

Chickens are amazing pets; I've known ones that were harness-trained and human-social to where they'd walk right up to strangers and beg for treats!
Do yours give eggs?

Seeing from the pics, yeah they might be all-green parakeets! When they come around again, I might snap a pic and compare to make sure, but it's at least a 95% match from the outside. And my GOD, ours usually tend to keep their distance, and now I know to keep it this way, I think I would cry if I got vomited on by a vulture dfnfkwewf
Also, chickens are lovely pets! And conures can be so damn pretty too~
Awwwwww, lucky! I'll bet they're loud though. :'D

Mildly interesting update: I might (emphasis on might) hare identified the other species. I can't find an actual english translation for their names, so their scientific ones is Thraupis Palmarum. It doesn't quite feel like a match because I remember them being a bit more grey-ish than green, but it's a start :D Again, I might need to take some more photos when they come around again...
My pigeon laid an egg last night so now I'm waiting for egg two to arrive. She was very nesty over the past few days, but I didn't think that it'd be so soon.
