Hello!

As I was collecting income from my pets' jobs this idea came to mind. What if users with a pet at the top position at a job with a corresponding shop in Subeta got a discount at that shop? Kind of like in real life when you work at a store and get an employee discount.

The big problem I'm seeing is that not every pet job has a corresponding shop. What if they work for SAI, or work for a quest giver like Quentin, or volunteer? Some jobs you might be able to make it work - Adopt-R-Us could get a discount at the pet supplies store, for example - but others would probably feel shoehorned in. Or, what if they work on the Freyalise or at the Spring Street Brewery? Those related shops are only open for a short time each year.

There might be other benefits that could be worked out aside from shop discounts, but a lot of thought would have to be put into that in order to keep them all balanced. Otherwise most people would probably just put their pet in the job with the best benefits, kind of like how they do now with the job that pays the most. There'd be little incentive to try different ones, other than whatever fits the pet's character, I guess.

Another problem that would need to be solved is how much of a benefit or discount at each store, if we're trying to be relatively fair. 10 percent off is a nice deal if your pet worked at Subeautique; at the Food Market though, maybe not so much. Extra quests from Saggitarius, hell yeah! Extra quests from Maleria, um...heck...yes? Still kinda cool?

I like the idea, don't get me wrong. With a good deal of thought put into it I think it could be a nice feature and a decent incentive to get your pet a job. It's just that it's not as simple as it first appears.

I love this idea!

Maybe this could be a buff randomly awarded when collecting each pet's income, similar to the current +1 on stats?

Here are some ideas for jobs not connected to the main shops:

Jobs Without Main Shops SAI - Discount at the Antique Shop on one item per pet. (It would make sense for SAI to have access to all the best stuff. Maybe a small amount, like 5%. If someone has the patience to train multiple pets for SAI, they should get a great perk. )

Saggitarius - Discount at the Millionaire Center? Or a non-seasonal item at the seasonal price?

Asmodeus Gentech Lab/Recycle Center/Yun Enterprises - Small amount (5 to 10) currency points. (trinkets/crystals/recycle points added to total like at the Bathhouse.)

Subeta Tribune/Spring Street Brewery/Freyalise - New dailies? A "treasure room" on the Freyalise with a chance at a retired pirate item. An "archive room" with a chance at a retired book. A "special pass" to get into the brewery. Could be set up like the Galley where you may or may not get an item.

Volunteer Co-op - Chance for Charity to give you an old free gift when donating food for a set amount of time?

Lakeview Resort - Voucher for one free night at the Resort?

Delphi Art Museum - Voucher for one free item from the gift shop?

Pawn Shop - Second chance to pick an item from the Hustler?

I feel this would complicate things a little too much. The site is already really hard to learn and navigate.

It takes a long time to work out jobs already with a huge bunch of jobs and more suggested all the time. Without tables showing initial stats through to final stats needed, just figuring out stats and qualifications, working out top positions and so forth takes a lot of effort. Remembering to collect your pay and get raises.

Also I think it would discourage people from choosing a specific job title that isn't the top position - which is already a problem since you won't earn as much sP. If you implement this then you would also miss out on an extra perk.
