Major Drills wants me to play with a pet but i had all my pets in the resort, do i just have to wait for happiness to go down?

do check your pets. They recently changed the pets so that sometimes they will drop down to 9 for both hunger and happiness even when in the resort in order to help with drills quests. They don't always drop, but its a chance.
