So this a obviously a pretty dead subforum on Subeta, but hopefully someone out there sees this and comes to my beckoning call. I really really want to use Notion, I have seen what it can do and I love it. However, I am super intimidated by how awesome it is. I have been binge watching a ton of youtube videos, reading articles and looking at templates but I am still in like analysis paralysis. Even joined reddit and got the app so I can continue to see cool things being done without the annoying message to get the app.

Anyways, I think I know what I want to do, I just don't know how to build it. I have seen lots of other templates similar to what I want, but not exact and I am not sure how to like mess with those to get what I want.

If I draw out what I am envisioning do you guys know of someone or are that someone who could help me somewhat bring it to life? I don't mind paying whatsoever. It involves what I assume is a lot of back linking and pages. But I need additional navigation I think?

It is a reading log/ notes depository that is broken into like a bunch of categories. So I know I need to build templates for the notes to keep it all uniform. But then I also would like a way to see the books with their notes organized by theme. I would like to also have like a new words table that would reference where I got it from. An area to log book recommendations and start setting them up with general info prior to me purchasing them and reading/note taking.

I can draw out what I am thinking.

I follow https://twitter.com/thenotionbar on Twitter - I'm pretty sure she'll help you for a price.

I find Notion just as challenging but can't be bothered to figure it out lol

I don't use Twitter but will check it out. Since my post I actually changed stuff quite a bit. So I use Notion to quick hot my notes since the app is easier on mobile for me and then I transfer it to obsidian when I am on a computer. Obsidian was easier to set up for my needs.

Do you use anything else?

If it's not Notion it's Windows OneNote, just to write stuff down, nothing complicated. Obsidian looks neat, I'm downloading it now.

Ahhh yes OneNote is nice for like handwritten stuff. If you need I have a few links to obsidian videos I found helpful. I was able to build what I was looking for in Obsidian in like an hour so far I really like it but it is best for me on the PC.

So I am using what is called a Zettelkasten method for note taking. With that in mind I used the tips from the top 2 videos to modify this set up how to Zettelkasten in obsidian

Yeah so far I really like it. But it definitely needs a keyboard for input. I don't pay for it either which is nice and it does have offline capabilities which was on my issues with Notion. I have my vault saved in my Google drive and then have my phone app and the desktop app open it from there. So no need to pay to sync it. When I get my tablet with the keyboard then I probably won't be using notion to quick jot what I end up copy pasting into obsidian. The graph mode too is just so helpful for me. Especially with writing to see how things relate. Enjoy it!

I use Notion and could probably help you get the template you want ready, but you'll really want to do it on a computer over a mobile device!

I actually have migrated off of notion since my original post. I use Obsidian now and with backlinking tags it actually works for me better than my original envisioning. So all my reading notes are in obsidian. I wouldn't mind using Notion for other things though. I am thinking more content based and not related to my reading. Any resources you recommend?

Hey there! If you're still looking for more Notion tutorials I recommend Thomas Frank on youtube. His Notion channel is listed underneath his channels tab on his profile.
